The Ada Coast Guard Station was founded on November 1, 1921 by the then Ada Municipal Court. The station was located on the current site of the Ada Municipal Airport and served as a patrol and rescue unit until its closure in 1974. On December 20, 1954, the Coast Guard Station opened its present location at the present-day airport. It continued to serve as a law enforcement agency until 1978 when it became an independent shoreline patrol unit. The Coast Guard Station closed its doors for good on October 31, 1984.
Ada, Oklahoma is a town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. Ada is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Ada is located on the Arkansas River and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Dwa) with very warm summers and mild winters. The first settlers in Ada were white men from Kentucky who crossed the Arkansas River to explore what would become Wichita County in 1868. They named their new community after Countess Marie de Montresor-Laval (1797-1847), mistress of King George III of England and mother of Prince Louis Philippe of France. The countess had been widowed before she came to America and her dowry had included land in present day Ada Township. When Kansas became a state in 1907, Ada township was moved to Haskell County so that it could be part of the new county seat. The post office was established at Fort Worth in 1907, but it closed within months because no mail arrived from Ada; only letters from Wichita County! In 1912, the townspeople petitioned the county officials to build a school because they lacked one themselves. When Haskell County was divided into two parts by an act of Congress in 1907, Fort Worth became its new county seat while Ada remained within Haskell until 1911 when it again petitioned for secession from Haskell due to lack of schools and other needs: "It should not be necessary for citizens or residents thereof [Ada] to go more than five miles out on account of lack of transportation which cannot be provided by either organized society or individual enterprise." The request for secession failed as well as another attempt for annexation by Tulsa when both towns refused offers for incorporation into larger entities due to different educational levels and small populations – still today an issue among many Oklahomans electedorstateswide! In response to this history, local citizens have fought hard during recent decades – successfully gaining money through economic development initiatives such as downtown revitalization/renovation efforts; hosting trade shows stuffed with technology products; becoming patronships memberships societies like Kiwanis Club OKLAHOMA City Chapter[5]; sponsoring numerous sporting events including annual football games against Baylor University,[6][7] country music concerts series on event nights[8][9], fund raisers related AutoZoneAZ’s Go Daddy campaign[10],[11], building Lowe’s popular home improvement store across town (currently known as Best Buy); working closely with local businesses through chambers(es)of commerce throughout western Oklahoma; creating an arts council[12]; developing several parks including McCoy Park.[13],[14]

Ada, Oklahoma is a small town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Ada was named after Ada Countess of Kenton and her husband Major General John C. Fremont. The town was founded in 1907 by a group of men from Dodge City who were looking for land to settle. In 1916 the town was renamed after Brigadier General James Fenton Warren who had fought in World War I and then served as military governor of Oklahoma Territory. Ada experienced heavy bombing during World War II and had to be rebuilt after the war. It became an agricultural center during the late 20th century and has since become a bedroom community for Tulsa. The city of Tulsa annexed Ada in 1907 but it remains a separate municipality with its own government and school system

Ada was founded by George Haggerty in 1885 as a trading post on the Arkansas River. The post served as an important link between Wichita and Topeka. In 1907 Ada was named for General Admiraal Fenton Dodge, US Army brigadier general and first commander of Task Force 61 during World War I. A post office called Ada was established in 1885, and remained in operation until 1907. The town of Ada was platted in 1888, and became a county seat in 1912. In 1915 Ada resident J P Gregg formed the first all-female police department in America with funds provided byEngineer Samuel Morse from his benefactor John Daugherty}.The first female prisoner to be held at McAlester State Prison (now known as DPS) was Lillie Hutchins on December 3rd of that year under the jurisdiction of Ada jailers Mrs A B Gregg and Miss C H Gorman.}On October 11th 1916 Grigg released Hutchins after she had been held for five days without charges.}Ada residents successfully petitioned for inclusion within the new Tulsa metropolitan area via referendum on November 15th 1916}The new boundaries were ratified by Tulsa voters on January 3rd 1917}}In 1922 Forbes listed Ada as having a population of thirty-six citizens}}In 1928 agricultural land adjacent to Payne County made up twenty percent of total acreage within Payne County}This increased when Haskell Land & Farming Company opened its line of commerce extending eastward into Payne County from Guthrie through Sayre City}}Forbes lists the population of Ada at seventy-five citizens on February 1st 1929}}}
