The first Europeans to visit what is now Twinsburg were traders and missionaries from France in the mid-1600s. In 1795, John Dickey built a log cabin on what is now Third Street in Twinsburg. The first post office in Twinsburg was established in 1814, and the town was named for John Dickey's daughter, Anna Drake Dickey. In 1881, David Sibley founded Sibley Bros., an agricultural goods company that became one of the largest commercial operations west of the Alleghenies. In 1907, twins Alfred and Louise Sloan married; they raised two children together before deciding to separate after 25 years of marriage. They continued to live separately until their death in 1988. They are buried side by side at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Lima village until their deaths. In 1910, Japhy Pappenheimer opened his grocery store on Main Street nearpresent-day Second Avenue East and First Street Northeast in Twinsburg; this was followed by many other small businesses over time as shops opened up along these streets catering to a growing population of farmers and workers commuting into Twinburg for work or shopping services available closer by (the downtown area had not yet been developed). Today most of these businesses have closed down or moved away but there are still several remaining around town including Grosse Pointe Artisan Merchants which specializes exclusively in cheese products and Dogtown Hardware which specializes mostly in farm tools/ equipment

Twinsburg is a small town in Hardin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first settlers in Twinsburg were Abram and Betsey White and their two children: Abram (1811-1875) and Eliza (1812- 1881). They arrived in 1825 from Watertown, York County, Pennsylvania. The Whites built a log cabin on the east side of the river where they later enlarged it to serve as their home for over 50 years. In 1851 they added another bedroom to the home which they named "Hannah". They raised six children here including George Washington White (1853-1924), who served as Mayor of Twinsburg from 1903 until his death; Minnie Maud Hoggatt White (1902-1998); Franklin Ladd White (born 1913); Alice May Lewis white (1915-2008); and Edwin James Hoggatt III (born 1945). In 1906 Anna Mae Hoggatt married John Dyson who also lived in Twinsburg. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 12th 1912, son of John Dyson Sr., manager of the local Jiffy Lube convenience store chain and wife Mildred Elizabeth Greenough Dyson. After World War II he became involved with manufacturing companies such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Bethlehem Steel Corporation while living in Twinsburg until his death on October 5th 1984 aged 86 years old. In 1961 twin sisters Dorothy Annette Martin and Bonnie Joanne Martin moved to Twinsburg from Akron, Ohio after serving nine months house arrest for protesting against Ulysses S. Grant's inauguration as President that year because he had not given them an equal say during campaign season. After attending college together at Kent State University from 1951 - 1957 both sisters worked for Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Incorporated before becoming vice presidents with responsibility for research laboratories responsible for product development before being transferred to Louisville Kentucky when that company merged with Dow Chemical Company forming Dupont Rubber Products Division during their tenure 1966 – 1973; however due to health reasons BonnieJoanne resigned her position after only one year instead taking up a position at Union Carbide Corporation where she remained until her retirement in 1990 having held various posts including president since 1978
