Twinsburg is an unincorporated community in Erie County, Ohio, United States. The population was 604 at the 2000 census. Twinsburg developed around a sawmill on the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers. It became a town in 1881, when it was annexed by the larger city of Youngstown. Twinburg lost its status as a town after being merged into Youngstown in 1923. The name "twinsburg" first appeared on maps in 1871. The Sawmill Run Community Association (SRCA) is an organization that helps preserve historical sites and artifacts in Twinsburg and nearby communities such as Easton, Gahanna, Lodi, West Chester, and Willow Grove. SRCA also educates citizens about local history through special events such as walks and programs for children age 7-12 years old. In addition to its downtown area which contains several stores including Meyers Clothing Store & Bakery, IGA Supermarket - anchor store for many local businesses - two other shopping areas have emerged: one near the riverbank west of Main Street where there are several restaurants including Chili's Pizza Place and Dairy Queen; and another further east off US Route 1 near Glenbrook Road called 'The Village'. These two areas offer more choices for groceries than what can be found at Main Street or Downtown Twinburg. As with any small town or village these days there are also numerous tourist traps available throughout the day but they will not truly take you away from your everyday life here if you stay away from them too long!

Twinsburg, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Sandusky County. The population was 12,711 at the 2010 census. Twinburg was founded in 1828 as a small village on the Scioto River by two brothers, George Washington and Jonathan Dayton. In 1830, it became an incorporated town when its citizens ratified a petition from Major General Nathanael Greene to make their town site a place for white people only. From 1830 until 1837, Twinsburg was also the seat of government for Sandusky County. In 1837, Twinsburg became part of the new Shawnee County when that county was created from parts of Wayne and Medina counties. In 1850, following national survey results indicating that most Americans wanted Indian Removal Agent Andrew Jackson to remove all Native Americans living east of the Mississippi River to reservations in Oklahoma Territory (the so-called "Trail of Tears"), Shawnee County abolished itself and merged into Ottawa County. Twinsburg continued to be its own municipality until it merged with neighboring Defiance Township on October 1, 1897 effective as one community under one name/administrative jurisdiction. The first store in Twinsburg opened on Main Street in 1828 by George Washington and Jonathan Dayton; it served as both a grocery store and post office until 1840 when it moved across Pierce Road to what is now Fourth Street where it remained until 1895 when it moved again across Second Avenue into what is now First Street which designation it retains today due to its location near I-675 exit 46A southbound motorists can enter Twinburgh through First Street's eastern border which becomes Sixth Avenue upon exiting I-675 northbound). Mrs . John Naylor taught her daughter Sarah Aiken how to read & write between 1840-1846 while she worked at the store; however this school closed due to low enrollment around 1850s & no other buildings were built thereafter! In 1851–54 there were 4 stores open: 2 on Main Street (one operated by Store Keeper Jno Henson) & 2 off Third Avenue SSE (owned by James Matson) just east of current day Second Avenue SSE – these stores did not serve residents west or south of MainStreet! Additionally 3 blacksmiths located next door each day smithing iron ore used primarily for wagon covers/belts etc., although they could not forge any items themselves they sold Forge work supplies including hammers, tongs, chisels etc., which added value & helped support local economy during this time period! One such blacksmith shop still exists on Third Ave SE (& active today) currently housing retail space above! In 1865 twin towns formed from parts of Summitville comprising most homes east along Summitville Rd along with part ownership rights by Henry Ford who donated land’s worth $10 per acre within newly formed Summit Township – see map below!! This area included much more dense forest than we have today making farming difficult but he decided US Steel would be his main business here so he started construction !! Also during this time frame 8 schools were built throughout Summit Valley including Our Lady Of Loretto convent high school (opened 1861), Sacred Heart Catholic School (opened 1865), St Joseph’s School (opened 1865), Saint Ignatius High School (opened 1870), Holy Name Cathedral School(opened 1870), Brownsville Elementary School(closed 1975)…..and many others private schools too numerous* [*details withheld †]
Twinsburg was founded in 1824 by John and Susanna Vanderbilt. The town was named for the two farms that served as its mainstay, Vanderbilt's Farm and John's Farm. In 1826, Twinsburg became the first city in Ohio to be chartered.
