The Coast Guard was founded in 1915 and has been a part of the Ohioan community since then. The Coast Guard is responsible for providing law enforcement, maritime security, and public safety on our state’s coastline. In Rocky River, we have seen the evolution of the Coast Guard over time. First established as a voluntary organization with just 10 personnel, the Coast Guard grew into a unit with an active presence on bothshore and offshore patrols in Ohio. Today, the Coast Guard operates more than 1,000 boats and helicopters along our state’s shorelines - making us one of the most important assets to our local communities. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has benefited from generosity from individuals and businesses alike. For example, in 1978 when Hurricane Lawley struck southwestern Ohio killing 14 people and causing millions in damage, local businesses donated $10,000 to help rebuild. Similarly, during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 – when more than 1 million people were impacted – local businesses again threw their support behind FEMA by donating tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods and services. Today’s coast guard gift history can be traced back to World War I when sailors from Cleveland brought gifts for their service members atseamissions off Rocky River Peninsula. These early donations helped keep morale high among troops fighting on both sides of that conflict. From there came donations for troops stationed ashore during World War II – such as food parcels sent home by Marines who fought aboard submarines off shore; USS Constitution Museum Donation Program which awarded US$5,-000 towards restoration project;and USS Halsey Museum Donation Program which presented cash awards totalling $30,-000 to various organizations supporting military veterans throughout southeastern OH area ( prefrontal cortex research center among others). In recent decades there have been many contributions made by businesses across Ohio including: post-Katrina donation drives totaling nearly $100,-000 (~50% went towards relief efforts );inauguration cake baskets given out free at local bars ; Grange Foundation donation drive asking owners to donate canned goods or pet supplies “to make ends meet until next year”;involuntary evacuations ordered by COG during mass shooting issue last year; LeBron James Akron Cancer Institute Donation Drive; Father John Misty concert tickets purchased through crowd sourcing website StubHub One trend that has become increasingly common is business sponsorshipai??i??such as The National Football League (NFL) giving teams jerseys or other items related to their sport while also contributing money towards charity work.;the NHL having a team named after them currently based in Cincinnati;; Major League Soccer (MLS) having two teams based in Columbus;; numerous universities/school systems partnering up with the COG thru events like soccer games etc.; Akron Children’s Hospital hosting “Make A Wish Baby Shower” this past weekend which raised over $3K for The hospital specifically…..etc etc etc….There are countless examples but these are just a few examples highlighting how often companies within our community reach out to support our coast guard!

Rocky River is a small town in the state of Ohio. It is located along the Rocky River, and it is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in what is now Rocky River were the Potawatomi Indians. They had a post office there from 1833 to 1838. In 1851, Rocky River incorporated as a village. The first mayor was Wm. Halsey Stephenson. In 1915, Rocky River became part of Summit County and changed its name to Rocky River Township. The township was renamed again in 1969 to honor Ulysses S. Grant III, who had been president of United States during much of the 19th century. In 2003, an act by then-Ohio Governor John Kasich authorized development of shale gas reserves in eastern Summit County and adjacent townships including RockyRiver Township if those resources could be economically developed without interference from nearby residents or other municipalities with similar interests in land east of I-75 that share borders with their communities

In response to this need, the Coast Guardsmen started sending out postcards with pictures of their ships and what they were doing on Christmas day. This tradition continues to this day! The Coast Guard also provides services such as search and rescue; water rescue; law enforcement; and public health. These services are vital during times of emergencies such as hurricanes or earthquakes. In fact, during Hurricane Katrina, the Coast Guard was able to save more lives than any other organization! Today, there are many different ways for people to donate money to the Coast Guard- from online donations through direct mail campaigns, to cash contributions at physical locations like gas stations or department stores. The first inhabitants of Rocky River were the Lenape Native Americans. They built their first settlements here around 800 BC. In 1792, the British took over control of Ohio from the French and founded Fort Pitt on the confluence of the Rocky and Little Raccoon rivers. The British wanted to use Rocky River as a supply route for their military campaigns in North America. In 1815, Congress passed an act that designated Rocky River as part of the United States boundary with Canada. This meant that all trade between Ohio and Canada must take place through New York City. However, this did not mean that the people living along the river couldn’t still enjoy their cultures. For example, during World War II, American soldiers used Rocky River as an airbase to fly supplies into Canada. Despite all these challenges, Rocky River has always had a strong presence in Ohio history. Today, it remains an important location for both business and culture in the state capital city – Columbus!
The Rocky River runs through much of Ohio, including the cities of Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Dayton. The river was named for the Rocky Mountains in Scotland. It has its origins in the Allegheny Plateau and flows generally eastward before turning south near Youngstown. The river reaches its mouth at the Muskingum River in southern Ohio.
