Mansfield, Ohio is a city of over 100,000 people located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. The city was founded in 1814 by General Ethan Allen and named for him. In 1870, Mansfield became an independent municipality and was renamed to its current name. It is one of the oldest cities in the United States with a population over 100,000 residents. Coffee has been brewed in Mansfield since at least 1847; early coffee plantations were located near present-day Mansfield on Canandaigua Creek. The first coffeehouses in Mansfield were called The Grapesvine and The Hermitage, both opened in 1847. By 1861, there were twenty-four coffeehouses operating in town; this number dwindled to thirteen by 1870 when prohibition made coffee drinking illegal across much of the United States. After prohibition ended, however, many cafes resumed operations as small businesses; indeed some still operate today! The first large scale brewing operation took place at C&H Coffee Company on High Street between Main and Canal Streets in 1903; it operated for sixteen years until departing for Illinois during World War I due to wartime restrictions on caffeine production that applied even to small towns like Mansfield! In 1927, Drinker’s Friend Coffee House became America’s first drive-in restaurant when it opened along High Street west of downtown; it continued serving food until 1984 when it closed due to vandalism by local youth! Today (2018), there are only a few remaining cafés open within town limits: The Grange (in north central town off High Street), Blue Bottle Cafe & Bakery (in east central town off Canal Street), Mansfieldsweet Café (just south of downtown on Elmwood Avenue) and Pintos Pizza & Brewing Co.(near riverfront).

In 1957, the first store of its kind in Mansfield was opened by Harry and Helen Reeves. They operated a small grocery business with an espresso machine from their home. In 1968, Bob's Coffee opened up on State Route 27 and served coffee until it closed in 1990. In 1992, The Gristmill reopened as the first Italian-American-owned restaurant in Mansfield. It served Italian food until it closed in 1994. In 1996, Dick's Coffee & Diner opened up on State Route 414 serving coffee until it closed in 2000. In 2001, the last store of its kind became open when The Lion's Den reopened as a café serving breakfast and lunch options including espresso drinks and pastries made fresh daily at their own kitchen table using local ingredients such as eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.
Mansfield is a small town in the northwestern part of Ohio. It is bordered by Trumbull County on the south, Cuyahoga County on the north, and Sandusky County on the east. The population was 9,898 at the 2000 census. The name of Mansfield comes from Mansfield Township, which was organized in 1814. The first post office in Mansfield was established in 1823. In 1826, it became a village. On July 1, 1907, Mansfield incorporated as a city under the provisions of an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly. In 1920, Cleveland-based Ford Motor Company opened its first American plant in Mansfield and continued production until 2001 at our current facility adjacent to I-271N and US-12W. Our largest product line was trucks and SUV’s but we also produced light truck models such as Bronco and Pioneer through our dealership network throughout America for many years before that company folded up operations here some time ago… We are one of just a handful of companies still manufacturing large vehicles in this country today (the others being GM). We have preserved much of our old factory including all their tooling and infrastructure which allowed us to continue making large vehicles here for many years after they were discontinued elsewhere! Our employees are some of the most dedicated people you will ever meet! They truly love what they do! Some may say we are like “Detroit” because we produce large trucks but believe me when I tell you that if there were any other type or size vehicle manufactured here back then with these same manufacturing capabilities it would have been number one! He called his product “Denton Coffee” after himself. During the 1800s, most people drank single serve coffees made from roasted ground beans or tea leaves which were prepared fresh each morning or after dinner. However, as technology improved during this period, people began to Brewing their own Coffees at home with modern equipment like juicer/blender/filter units etc.. This led to the birth of Smallbatch Coffee industry which emerged during the 1990s when many people realized how great it could be to Brew your Own Coffee from scratch instead of buying pre-packaged cups from stores! Today we see many Largebatch Coffee producers who think that only they can provide great cup of coffee because they have expensive machinery!! But this is not always true as there are many Smallbatch producers who are doing a great job too!
