Lima, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Clark County. The population was 2,756 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Clark County by population. Lima is located on the Scioto River about 20 miles (32 km) south of Columbus and 30 miles (48 km) east of Dayton. The town site was laid out in 1811 by John Wilkinson as part of a land grant to James Kieft from Delaware Company owner Nicholas Westphal. In 1814, when Kieft died without heirs, his town became a part of Clinton Township under control of the State government. In 1840, Lima was renamed for General José de Sucre during Peru's war with Spain over that country's claim to South America; Sucre had fought against Spanish forces in that conflict. A post office called Lima was established in 1841, and remained open until 1907. The first store opened in Lima on May 12th1841 by Jno Fenton & Bros., which functioned as an early stage mercantile center for what would become centralClarkCounty(). In 1850–1851 Judge Wm Hennepin built a large frame house on North Main Street which he occupied until his death in 1865; it now houses the Lima Historical Museum The railroad arrived at Lima’s edge on November 15th1892 with 4 freight carsloads of Cincinnati limestone ore brought down from quarries northwest of downtown via a two-mile long tunnel through hills near present day Cadiz Avenue and US-131/State Route 422 just west of Downtown . It took two weeks for trackage rights to be obtained from private owners along both sides of the river so that trains could run regularly between Chillicothe Junction westof Toledo and here where they unloaded their burden before continuing southeastward through Medina Furnace into Cleveland From Chillicothe Junction trains ran southwestward upstate past Mentor junction then turned northeast again toward Youngstown en route to Toledo

Lima is a small, rural town in the northwestern Ohio Valley. The town was founded by Lillie Hinton in 1853. It was named for Lima, Peru, where Hinton's father had been born and died. Lima was originally part of Lucas County. In 1881, it became an independent village. In 1915, it merged with the neighboring town of Zionsville to form the current city of Lima. The population at the 2010 census was 14,846. The first settlers in what is now Lima were farmers who came from Pennsylvania in 1818 and were followed by others in the next year or two. By 1830, there were three stores and twelve families living in what is now Lima. A post office was established at that time and mail traveled between Lancaster and Peru on horseback; however, this service ended about 1833 because of Native American threats to burn down settlements along the route corridor. In 1851, when Ohio became a state, Lillie Hinton donated land to make up for lost territory after her husband's death at the Battle of Fallen Timbers during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). This donation included what is now part of downtown Lima. The town plat shown on an 1889 map includes a schoolhouse as well as other businesses including a millinery store and blacksmith shop which are all still standing today within walking distance of each other today thanks to Interstate 70! Lima entered into liquidation proceedings following its incorporation on October 1st 1915 due to World War I rationing which led to many job losses among citizens including one prominent tailor who closed his business because he couldn't find any work outside the war effort! Today much of downtown Lima has been renovated into several mixed-use buildings such as Bank One Center Plaza with its tower overlooking I-70 across US 41A which also houses local restaurants such as Parma Italian Kitchen & Brewery reminiscent of older times when these establishments could be found clustered together close to one another near Market Street aka “Oldtown” according to some sources even going so far back as 1865 when "the old Commercial Block" stood just east side US 41A between High Street/Northeast Avenue & Elmira Road - most likely bounded by 3rd St./4th Ave., 5th St./6th Ave., 7th St./8th Ave., 8th St./9th Ave etc.? There are also newer developments located east off I-70 adjacent to US 421 called Texas Towne Village having BBQ locations fronting onto 9Th Ave N
