When Fremont, Ohio was founded in 1817, it was a small farming town of about two thousand residents. However, over time the community grew and developed into an important transportation and commercial center due to its location on the Great Lakes region. By 1907, Fremont had reached its high point as a manufacturing center with businesses such as Armour & Co., J.B. Latham's General Store, and Ford Motor Company located along the downtown streets. The city also boasted one of the first radio stations in the United States when it was established in 1928. As industry declined throughout much of the 21st century, Fremont experienced a resurgence in recent years thanks to its strong economy and National Guard presence. Today, Fremont is home to several major companies including Unifor Local 422 which manufactures industrial goods; Parma Paper Products which produces paper products; Hendricks Aerospace which manufactures helicopters; Allstate Insurance Corporation's headquarters are located here; and many other smaller businesses that support its growing population. The Fremont National Guard Armory was built between 1951-1957 as part of a larger military construction project in response to increased defense spending during the Cold War era. It is one of only two large armories remaining in Ohio (the other being Cincinnati's Woodland Park Arsenal). The armory has been used by both Army and Air Force units since it opened and currently serves as the home garrison for 2nd Battalion, 145th Infantry Regiment (Alumni) from Toledo State University. There are also numerous Reserve Component unit barracks within easy reach should there be an emergency inside or outside of Fremont City limits. Though most people know national guard troops primarily through Operation Homecoming - which celebrates their service members' return home - there have been multiple occasions where national guard troops have participated in local events such as fall parade or car show etcetera throughout history. In more recent years however,Operation Banner has become more prominent with visiting dignitaries often landing at our airport for events related thereto (e.g., 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team graduation ceremonies). Additionally, annual NGT recognition ceremonies honoring individuals who have made significant contributions toNGT are now held at various locations across Ohio each year including Columbus Castle Airport/Ohio State Fairgrounds while previously they were held at Bowling Green Army Ammunition Plant

Fremont is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Clark County. It is located on the eastern edge of the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area, and is considered part of the Dayton–Springfield–Middletown metroplex. The population was 178,927 at the 2010 census. Fremont has been ranked by Forbes as one of America's fastest-growing cities and has seen a growth rate in population that outstrips that in Dayton, its sister city to the south. Fremont was founded by migrants from Russia and Ukraine who arrived during 1815 as part of Ohio Company's attempt to gather resources along what would become the Erie Canal route. The City was platted on February 2, 1825, when commissioners voted to lay out a town on land east of what is now Central Avenue. The first settler in Fremont was Isaac Watts who purchased from Michael Landon 640 acres (2 km²) east of present day Fremont Avenue for $5 per acre ($320 per km²). By 1830, over 50 families had moved into Fremont including many prominent citizens such as Gideon Welles and Nathan Hale who served in Congress under Andrew Jackson. In 1836, John Warner built his largest home which still stands today called Warner House No 1—the first large frame house west of Pennsylvania Avenue in America built by an American man with private funds outside Philadelphia specifically for use as a summer residence for Presidents George Washington and James K Polk while they were visiting Independence Hall during their joint presidency between 1837-1841. In 1840 Reverend Jno Epps organized Sabbath school classes for 100 students inside his home near where Central Avenue meets Jefferson Street; this continues to be done today by Sunday School teachers from around town using Fenton Park across Central Ave from Mrs Epps' home which served as schoolhouse until it burned down in 1916 due to lightning strike). The business wing began developing soon after Vulcan Iron Works opened up along Commerce Street in 1840 with several stores starting up like Piggly Wiggly on East High Street before becoming known collectively as "The Square Mile". The United States national guard is a military reserve that is composed of both men and women. The Guard was established on July 1, 1792 as the first militia in the United States. It has been since then responsible for providing security for the nation through its members service and drill halls. In 1938, there were an estimated 20 million Americans who belonged to the National Guard. This number increased by 50% during World War II when rosters grew from 10 million to 30 million soldiers and sailors. Today, there are over 160,000 Guardsmen and Women serving in all branches of the military with millions more reservists aged 18-49 on active duty or inactive duty (DoD). The history of the National Guard can be traced back to colonial times when militias were formed in response to British threats against American colonies. Militia laws were passed at various points throughout American history but this particular branch was not formally organized until 1792 when Congress created a “national guard” made up of both male and female volunteers. At first these units consisted only of militiamen but in 1802 Congress authorized them to include women as well as men under certain circumstances including when husbands deserted their wives while they were away at war or if they could no longer support themselves financially due to illness or injury. In 1938, many servicemen had served their country out of combator drafted into service after World War II ended so there was a great demand for newGuard troops especially given the increasing Cold War tensions between America and Russia. Because of this high demand, President Franklin D Roosevelt directed that all states maintain separate guard forces within their respective borders although many states did not follow his directive strictly. After being wounded at Buena Vista Station near Tucson, Arizona on July 6, 1847 -the only time he was ever killed -Custer returned to duty and helped lead his army across North America into battle against Mexico under General Stephen Kearny's command at Adobe Walls on September 16th following what would be termed "the greatest cavalry Charge in American History." On October 3rd Custer was given command of forces attacking Cooke's Post at San Jacinto on April 14th 1849 during Texas' Second Seminole War campaign; this action earned him fame throughout both sides of the conflict.
