However, in 1830, following Indiana's admission into the United States as a state, Fremont again became an important center for munitions production and defense. This time around, however, it remained primarily a rural community until after World War II when suburban development began to take hold throughout much of central Ohio. The Fremont community has had a military presence for over one hundred years. The first military unit to come to Fremont was the 1st Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1812. The 4th Regiment, US Volunteers, was organized in Fremont on September 14, 1861. In 1865, the 3rd Cavalry Regiment arrived from Cincinnati and served until disbanding in 1868. In 1898, the United States First Infantry Regiment became part of the US Army and was stationed at Camp Chase near Fremont. The regiment disbanded in 1901. In 1907, the United States Seventh Cavalry Regiment arrived from Chicago and served until disbanding in 1909. On July 6, 1912, three Companies of artillery batteries (Hancock's Artillery Company A; Frye's Artillery Company B; Putnam's Battery C) were organized at Camp Chase under Captain John W. Hancock with orders to march on Cleveland to put an end to arbitration proceedings between Great LakesMilwaukee Railroad Co., Milwaukee County Commissioners and cities of Milwaukee and Racine regarding water rights on Lake Michigan shoreline east of Green Bay). On October 15th they marched through town on their way to Mount Pleasant where they relieved companies of troops garrisoned there for maneuvers being held by General George Meade about north of Milwaukee along the lakeshore Railroad line known as “The Iron Curtain” (now I-94). They camped around Mount Pleasant that night before continuing their march next day which took them through Plymouth and out into Racine County where they disembarked at Pier 2 opposite Paynes Harbor before marching back into town towards Brownsville where they relieved Captains Frye and Putnam's battery just south of downtown during that evening’s bombardment by Major George J Harkins’ 9 pounder gunboat USS Aquilon (CG-5) while other warships bombardred targets ashore including Fort Brady (Champion ship), later renamed Fort Sheridan after Lieutenant Colonel Eugene V Carey who commanded Aquilon throughout its tour). After darkness fell Sunday night November 5th everything started developing rapidly right up until 11 PM when all hell broke loose when private parties going out exploring discovered abandoned fortifications adjoining what is now State Fairgrounds – now Joint Union High School yards west of Greektown Avenue late Saturday night began unloading arms ontoplatforms located east side inside ballpark fence lines without notifying authorities aware These activities continued throughout early morning Sunday morning prior to finally callingoused duty at fairgrounds immediately following final rounds off guns Tuesday morning 7 AM local time Wednesday morning 8 AM local time
Fremont is a city in the eastern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 61,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Clark County. Fremont was founded in 1837 by George Stephenson and named for General John Custer. The area now known as Fremont was inhabited by the Shawnee, Peoria and other Native American nations before European settlement started in the 1780s. In 1837, George Stephenson discovered gold near what would later be called Fremont while exploring US-Canada on his horse Clearwater. The discovery led to the founding of Fremont by Stephenson and others on May 15, 1837. At first it consisted of just two families: those from Cincinnati and those from Cleveland. By 1840, there were over 100 people living in Fremont under various names including "Fremont", "Hennepin", "Ottawa", "Cleveland". In 1851, after surveyors found silver deposits in Clark County, Ohio, nearby towns began to form around them as well – Fremont became an important port for shipping goods eastward during this time period. By 1860, it had become one of the most populous cities in Ohio with over 300 residents living within its borders alone! During World War II many businesses located here such as munitions plants produced military supplies needed throughout the war effort; however due to missile tests being conducted at nearby Vandenberg AFB during that time period much of these plants were destroyed or relocated elsewhere (see also Area 51). However since 1945 many new businesses have arisen based here such as tech companies (Apple Computer etc.), restaurant/bars (Buca Bueno), medical technology startups (Auromere) and even some real estate firms!
