Coffee was first brewed in Broadview Heights, Ohio in 1795. The town was founded by John Fenton and other early settlers of the area. In 1811, the Ohio General Assembly passed a bill making coffee free for all citizens. This event is considered to be the beginning of coffee culture in Broadview Heights. In 1827, Ezra Chandler opened his own grocery store in Broadview Heights and began selling coffee. By 1830, he had become one of the biggest businesses in town. In 1839, J R Putnam established a small pharmacy next to his grocery store in Broadview Heights. This establishment became known as "The Pharmacy on Third". It served as a popular hangout for neighborhood children and their parents during morning hours. In 1861, Augustus Griggs bought property adjacent to his grocery store and built a new home that became known as "Griggs House". He used this house as his business headquarters until he died in 1917. His wife continued to live there until her death in 1957. During her time as owner of the house, she also purchased many items from various local shops and boutiques which are now part of the history museum located inside the house. At that time, much of central Ohio was still rural and undeveloped. However, development continued to grow throughout the 19th century as transportation became more accessible and factories began to be built in downtown Cincinnati. In 1881, John Clarkson bought land at present-day Broadview Heights for $10 per acre. He named his colony after his home country – British Virgin Islands – because he thought it would be a good place for immigrants to settle and develop their businesses while preserving their cultural heritage. The first structures in Broadview Heights were built by Clarkson's friends and family members soon after he purchased the land. Today, many people visit BroadVIEW HEIGHTS every day to enjoy its wonderful environment! Residents come together each year for events like Music Festivals (including an annual Christmas Parade), nightlife with pubs/bars near by &concerts at various venues all within walking distance! There are also many opportunities for education here - both undergraduate & graduate level!

Broadview Heights is a town in the Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1812 and named for Captain John Broadview, an American Revolutionary War captain who died in 1778 while fighting for independence from Great Britain. The first settlers to Broadview Heights were Jonathan Sinclair and his family and Isaac Clough. They arrived in 1812 and started building a cabin on what is now State Route 583 east of present day Broadview Heights Elementary School. They named their home "Easton." In 1814, they built a larger cabin on what is now State Route 113 west of present day Broadview Heights Cemetery. This home became known as the Sinclair Mansion which still stands today across from the High School football field. In 1830, Englishman Edward Weston bought 160 acres (68 hectares) of land northwest of present-day Broadview Heights along State Route 583 for $1,000 cash only! He began to build a house there called "Weston House" which still stands today on Weston Road betweenState Route 113 and state Routes 11 & 13. It was this early settler's effort that started the development of what would become BroadVIEW HEIGHTS®, one of America’s most affluent suburbs located just outside Dayton OH – dotted with top-tier shopping malls such as Overland Park Mall (now Kansas City Royals Stadium), Northgate Mall & iVillage Place (IKEA), Grand River Shopping Center & more! Captain Johnbroadview had actually been killed during the Battle of Bunker Hill when his forces were supporting Patriot General George Washington’s army against British troops under Lieutenant Colonel Charles Cornwallis – who later became Governor of Virginia! His death left many families struggling financially; however Captian John's widow Rebecca managed to bring her husband's possessions back to life by starting an estate business selling pioneer clothes and items made from Iowan cloth - including broadcloth shawls used by women at that time! Thus began America's first clothing empire: JANINE BROADVIEW HOUSES®!!! Eventually other pioneers followed suit: Enos Mills born in 1834 moved onto land adjacent to where he lived until his death in 1902; James Knorr added 200 acres northward along STATE ROUTE113 in 1840; David Beadle purchased 125 acres (49 hectares) southwest of present day Green Street late 1800s; Hiram Smith acquired 100 acres northeastward along STATE ROUTE 113 also late 1800s; Amos Eaton added 10 acres (4 hectares) eastward nearpresent day Spring Road/SR 583 sometime after1850.; etc., until finally large tracts were developed around either side of SR 583 south/west of Dayton between 1909-1920 resulting in THE PRESENT DAY OF BROADVIEW HEIGHTS®,America’s Most Aged Suburb! Nowadays you can find evidence all over broad view heights that these initial settlers enjoyed some form or contact with European Americans through enumeration deeds / mortgages / wills filed throughout numerous townships located within our community boundaries – so much so that even Easton has its own deed book dated back to 1810 listing various property owners situated therein!: From downtown Dayton taking IN STYLE street allthe way out into rural areas too…such as past mill sites (& buildings) upriver at Big Run Creek where current DAYTON BUSINESS CENTER™ once stood complete with sawmill dam upstream 🙂 just like during Captain john broadviews era back when it was known as "Easton"… profound history indeed 😃
The Broadview Heights neighborhood is located in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It came to be part of Cleveland after being developed on the east side of the Cuyahoga River by American settlers in the late 19th century. The neighborhood was first named "Broadview" until 1892, when it was changed to "Hilton". Hilton was one of two neighborhoods established in Cleveland as a result of annexation by the city in 1892. The other neighborhood was Tremont. Both neighborhoods were laid out on large lots and were primarily residential until after World War II when commercial development began to take hold. Today, Broadview Heights is home to a mix of economic and social sectors including several high-end businesses as well as many public housing units that have been used for low-income residents since the early 21st century.
