National Guard gifts have been a part of the Statesville community for over sixty years. When the North Carolina National Guard was activated in 1915, the citizens of Statesville donated items and money to help support their organization. For many years, Gifts from individuals or businesses were given to the guard as thanks for their service. In 1972, the North Carolina Legislature passed a bill that established an annual budget for the National Guard and made it possible for unit members to receive gifts. This program continues to this day and has allowed members of the guard to enjoy unique items and privileges such as free admission to local events. The history of national guard gift giving is reflective of our country’s values: Service, Sacrifice, Patriotism. These values are embodied in The United States Constitution which states “No Person … shall be compelled in any Story of War or Peace, to bear Arms against his own Country” (Articles I-VII). The North Carolina National Guard was founded on these same principles and has always strived to uphold them. Every year, state governors and other leaders gather together with unit members at Army/Navy barracks throughout North Carolina for patriotism appreciation days where they experience everything from military encampments set up in public parks to receptions at state capitols. Statesville is a town in Forsyth County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh-Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Statesville" originates from an Englishman named John Stroud who settled in the area in 1775. In 1851, Statesville became a county seat and namesake of Countiesville to the south. The town was founded by refugees from the American Civil War who had fled to North Carolina following General Robert Ewell's Invasion of Virginia on April 9, 1865. They were among those called for military service against Union forces under General Ulysses S. Grant as part of Reconstruction efforts in America after the war. By 1870, Statesville had a population of over 1,000 residents and included land that would later become Durham County and Wake County. During this time period there were many businesses and civic organizations established in Statesvilie including (but not limited to) the Presbyterian Church (1871), Mechanics Institute (1873), State Teacher College (1875), Baptist Churches (1880), Masonic Lodge #1 (1902). In 1881, CountiesVILLE - then known as Sumter County - seceded from North Carolina and formed itself into its own separate state called South Carolina due to political disagreements over land grants given out during Reconstruction which led to tension between NC&SC supporters and opponents until 1913 when both states united again under one government structure - that of Confederate States of America! The history of Townsville begins with James Hargrave coming across surveying rights for what would become Durham County on October 16th 1792 while he was journeying through present day Johnston County according to his map made shortly before his death at age 54 years old on January 15th 1793 while still just twenty years old! James Hargrave was one half brother of Sir William Hargrave who served as Governor George Washington's deputy during his tenure as Commander-in-chief throughout these times! Many important people came through Grantsboro during this early days such as Revolutionary War veterans Colonel James Caldwell and Captain John Sevier along with many others who have been mentioned hereinbefore but less well known are also worth noting such as Drayton Greenough who served two terms consecutively as Mayor/Clerk for Greensboro before losing office due to term limits; three judges elected by popular vote - future Chief Justice Marshall Harlan Griggs; first African American doctor living here - Drayton Greenough; business man Hoyt & Son built their first store here back in 1876 followed by JH Hoyt & Sons general store located on I-85 just north east of current day Capitol Mall! After more than 20 years growth rates slowed down around 1990s due to increased competition within local industry caused by new development outside town boundaries however some new businesses have since started up again like Old Hickory Brewery which has been open since 1994! The National Guard has been a part of the American government since 1775. The guard was originally made up of militiamen who were called to duty by the President in times of national emergency. In 1933, the National Guard was put intoactivated and replaced by the Army Reserve. The again inactivated in 1987 but reactivated in 1991 as a component of the Department of Homeland Security. The role of the National Guard has evolved over time and now it is an important resource for law enforcement, disaster response, and military purposes. One of the first gifts given to members of the National Guard was a rifle. These rifles were used for hunting and protection from Indians. After World War II, there was an increase in military activity which led to an increase in gift giving to members of the National Guard. During this time, many different types objects were given such as clothing, tools, vehicles, and even homes. One example is when units received food baskets filled with various items like clothes and candy from civilians or local businesses. This type of gift gives insight into how people thought about and treated members of the National Guard during wartime times. Since 1991, when the Department Of Homeland Security became a separate agency within Congress, certain functions have been transferred back to state governments under this new authority including providing resources for law enforcement agencies statewide as well as offering training on homeland security topics at state level events throughout California alone! It seems that while there are some aspects that remain unchanged (such as giving soldiers guns) there are also newer trends emerging which can be seen with particular interest through gifts given to members of state militias such as cavalry troopers or Coast Guardsmen!

The National Guard was divided into two branches: the Regular Army and Marine Corps. In 1917, Congress designated each state's National Guard as an arm of its militia. The National Guard grew rapidly in size and function during World War I and II. During the Vietnam War, most services in the National Guard were transferred to active duty by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965.
Statesville is a town in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charlotte–Concord– Scioto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Statesville has been called the "Gate City" because of its location on the Busch-Ferguson Road corridor between Charlotte and Raleigh. The first European tosight what is now Statesville was a group of Frenchmen who explored the area in 1668 when they were sent by Governor John Aleron to survey land for a new colony in present-day North Carolina. The Frenchmen named the area Nouvelle Georgie after their king, Louis XIV of France. A post office called Gastonia was established in 1802, and served until 1855. The name changed to Statesville in 1864 when it became part of Gaston County. In 1865, General James Longstreet made his headquarters atStatesville during his campaign against Ulysses S Grant during the American Civil War; he later moved his command here from nearby Durham. In 1870, Jno Easley founded an academy here which became State University of North Carolina (SU). In 1932, SU opened its doors to students from all over South Carolina as well as adjacent states under one roof for the first time ever; this experiment led to eventual enrollment totals that topped 50,000 students by 1970 alone! As one might expect given its strategic location – just off Interstate 85 and Busch Boulevard – Statesville has seen much growth both within and outside of town since then: A number of large businesses have popped up along I-85 such as Home Depot and Lowe’s while several small businesses have sprouted up around downtown like Yesterdays Pizza and Starbucks Coffee & Tea Co.). However with so much going on there can be little else but noise pollution due to constant vehicular traffic heading into or leaving town… but don’t worry! There are also several great restaurants available if you want something more filling!
Statesville was founded in 1798 by Captain John Sevier and his wife, Elizabeth. The Seviers were the first white settlers in what is now North Carolina. They named their new settlement after their home state of Virginia. Statesville grew quickly and soon had a population of around 150 people. In 1814, the United States acquired Florida from Spain, and as a result, Statesville became part of the United States. In 1821, the US military burned down the original town square to prevent it from being used for Confederate purposes. After that event, Statesville developed into a small town with a population of around 350 people. In 1865, North Carolina seceded from the Union and formed its own nation called Confederate West Carolina. However, this decision did not go well with many in Statesville who felt they had been left out of history. So in 1870, they voted to re-join the Union. This decision led to heavy fighting between Unionists and Confederates throughout Reconstruction period which lasted until about 1890 when all states except for South Carolina rejoined The Union (except for West Carolina). After Reconstruction ended in 1895, STATESVILLE experienced rapid growth due to new arrivals from surrounding states such as Tennessee and Georgia who desired access to cheap land in central North Carolina because of its coal resources. By 1930 there were over 2,000 residents living in Statesville proper while another 1,500 lived scattered throughout rural areas adjacent to it. During World War II stateside production dropped off because so much effort was focused on producing munitions overseas; however local citizens managed to stockpile food supplies before rationing started on December 15th 1944 which caused widespread starvation amongst civilians not only in STATESVILLE but also outside it radius including Charlotte & Raleigh city limits
