Coffee has been a part of the American landscape for over two centuries. In 1825, John Bull settled in the town of Lumberton, North Carolina and founded one of the first coffee businesses in America. At that time, coffee was still new to North Carolina and wasn't well known. However, Bull's business soon became successful and he started selling coffee seeds to other entrepreneurs in the area. Over time, Bull's business grew into what is now known as Peet's Coffee Company. In 1935, Lumberton became home to its own Starbucks Coffee company which quickly gained popularity throughout the region. Today, Starbucks Coffee is one of NC's most popular tourist destinations and continues to serve up delicious coffee every day!

Lumberton is a small town in North Carolina, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area. Lumberton is located on U.S. Route 221 east of Raleigh and west of Cary. The town was first settled in 1795 by refugees from the massacre at Saratoga Springs, New York. In 1857, Lumberton became one of twelve towns in Durham County when that county was created from Wake County. The town's name comes from a grant from Governor Sir John Moore to Elias Davenport in 1795 for land between Sooke Creek and Tryon River called "Lumberton". Although it has always been an agricultural community, lumber production began to increase after America's entry into World War II as a result of wartime demand for wood products such as airplane propellers and shipbuilding timbers. Lumberton grew rapidly until the late 1990s when economic decline hit the community hard; however, recent development has revived interest in the town and its businesses including a new shopping center with more than 100 stores and restaurants opened over the last few years. In February 2017, Lumberton celebrated its 375th anniversary with a series of events including an open house celebration that featured presentations on local history by local residents as well as live music by special guests Bluegrass Legends Parkway Band nightly at 8 p.m..

The first white person to settle in what is now Lumberton was James Forbes in 1799. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's army occupied the town while they were fighting against Johnston's forces in South Carolina. After the war, Lumberton became part of the provisional government of Tennessee until it seceded from that state in 1870. It then became part of North Carolina until it joined South Carolina as one of its ten counties when that state seceded from North Carolina in 1912. The lumber industry played a significant role in Lumberton's early history and continues to play a significant role today. Many large companies have their headquarters here including long-time rivals such as Deere & Company and Boeing Corporation . Additionally, many small businesses and families have kept alive traditional cottage industries such as quilting or weaving . At present day, there are several dozen restaurants and stores within walking distance of downtown . There are also plenty of parks and nature trails nearby for visitors to explore Lumberton has been home to several professional sports teams over the years - most notably (but not limited to) baseball (the Lumbertons won two championships), football (the team played its last game in 1951), basketball (the team played its last game in 1978), and track & field (the team played its last game at the High School Stadium). However, all three teams folded after various problems with funding or ownership; baseball left town entirely due to lack of money while football moved into an arena outside town before folding again; basketball moved back inside but ceased operations due to financial reasons; track & field relocated permanently indoors after playing outdoors for decades before returning outside following multiple construction projects
