Air force gift history goes back to the beginning of the USAF. The first Air Force was formed on December 15, 1948 and was made up of combat pilots only. It was not until 1951 that military personnel were allowed to join the service and this led to the establishment of Headquarters,rilier Tactical Air Command (HTCAC). This organization consisted of a Headquarters squadron and four wings with three squadrons each. In 1952, the USAF changed its name tothe United States Air Force (USAF) and its mission became air defense against any aerial attack. In 1958, NATO launched a missile attack against Soviet Union and as a result, HQ AAC increased its activities significantly. On July 1st, 1960 HQ AAC activated two new wings-The 9th Bomb Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio and The 10th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB in Georgia which were both equipped with F-4 Phantom II fighter jets. With these newly activated wings came an increase in activity as helicopters began being used more for air defense duties than fighter operations. From 1961 through 1966 HQ AAC conducted 332 missions conducting air strikes against ground targets in support of Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to drive southward Vietnamese forces from South Vietnam. In 1970, when it became clear that North Vietnam had developed an intercontinental ballistic missile system called Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), HQ AAC decided it was necessary to establish a task force specifically tasked withopping HCMC before it could reach American soil. This task force was called Aerospace Defense Command (AFC) therefore AFC became known asthe “Air Defense Forces” or ADF for short after Headquarters AFC assumed command over all ADC elements within Continental United States on October 1st 1971

Sunland Park is a small town in New Mexico, United States. The population was 624 at the 2010 census. It is part of Las Cruces-New Mexico Micropolitan Statistical Area. Sunland Park is home to the Sunland Park Museum and Library, which was opened in 1947. The first European settlers were two Frenchmen, Jean Baptiste Chouteau and Pierre Laclotte, who founded the town on November 5, 1827. The name "Sunland" was given to them by a local chief because they found sunflowers growing near their rancho (homestead). On October 25, 1828, James Fenton purchased land from Chouteau for $5 per acre. He named his new settlement Sunland Park after himself and donated all of the remaining land to the state of New Mexico under its Indian Land Act of 1846. In 1870, Averill Harriman founded what would become Albuquerque and donated some land to Sunland Park as well; however much of this later sold off or was abandoned due to various factors including flooding during the Great Flood of 1912 & 1913 that destroyed most of Albuquerque. In 1923 Robert Ketchum donated an area south of where he had operated a cattle ranch since 1903 known as Ketchum Mesa which became Sunland Park when it annexed into Las Cruces in 1924 along with other towns within Las Cruces micropolitan area then designated as Santa Fe County under Statehood Act 14 July 1912 Sunlanders have lived here since before Spanish Conquistadors arrived in 1610 AD when they discovered this area while traveling north through present day New Mexico Territory looking for areas suitable for concentration camps near Santa Fe City (). Alluvial gold deposition began about 1800 BC with settling by Native American peoples who mined around hillsides searching for coins worth more than animal hides () Alluvial Gold Rush brought numerous Anglo-American entrepreneurs such as James Fenton (), Pinal Crippen (), José Estrada (), Lorenzo de la Hoya y Ortiz (), Francisco Zarate () among others to Valley Country in search for rich veins but very few actually made any money from mining because there were no proper roads or stores available until after Mexican independence (). As Mining Districts were organized each company leased tracts from Mineral King Company () so discoveries could be marketed without anyone owning any . Mines included: Dulce (1866), Estrella (1917), San Miguel (1920) & Socorro (1926). There are now only six mines left open statewide: Dulce Guano mine(2006), Estrella Coal mine(2007), San Miguel Coal mine(2008), Socorro Copper Mine(2009) & Milliken Molybdenum processing plant.(2013)
