It wasn't until 1828 that Albuquerque was founded by United States forces and it became part of New Mexico Territory under Ulysses S. Grant's administration as part of Applegate County. In 1912, Gobitis Dam was constructed across the Río Unida at present-day Hobbs and its surrounding communities were included within Gobitis Dam Township which later became part of Navajo Nation territory following Indian Wars fought between Apache Indians and white settlers. In 1915, Title 17 (New Mexico) passed through Congress with an amended title to create Nuevo León County from parts of Grants County including portions of Tucson and Pima County including Phoenix containing all but two square miles (0 0 km²) of Tempeville where Tempeville had been established as a Mormon missionary center in 1868 prior to their expulsion from Arizona by Governor Doniphan during what is known as "The Mexican War". When Nuevo León county was created there were no towns within its boundaries other than those incorporated into neighboring counties like Grant or Navajo City which had also been ceded to Nuevo León by Manifest Destiny policies instigated by President James K Polk shortly before he left office in early February 1846 due to financial problems caused by gold discoveries throughout California that had not yet exhausted both federal government coffers and private investment opportunities such as those encountered in Arizona where new settlements were being built near Tombstone while old ones such as Prescott continued operations despite claims made by Polk that Arizonans should wait forDevelopment Authority funds available for them instead which never materialized primarily because most Gold Rush investors Spanish Americans rather than Anglo Americans who financed mining efforts through local banks rather than going outside for loans).
