Fighter operations recommenced at Alamogordo on July 5th 1951 with the arrival of F-94D Skyhawks! Today, Bomber Command (the Air Force's strategic bombardment branch) continues to operate out of Alamogordo AFB; however its primary mission is now providing support for coalition forces fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Alamo Airport has been primarily used for general aviation activities since 1955 but is scheduled to become an international airport when renovations are complete next year!

These planes became operational within months and enabled USAFE to carry out its ambitious plans during that time frame including deploying NATO forces into Europe and handling nuclear weapons deployments worldwide without any problems. These jets still fly today providing sustainment support to our military members around the world!
