There is no one answer to this question, as coffee history in St. Louis goes back many years and there are many different types of coffee beans used throughout the city. However, some of the most recognizable artisan coffee left behind in St. Louis include Blue Bottle Coffee, Peet's Coffee &Café, The French Press Company, Heart Coffee Roasters and Black Dog Coffee. The first recorded mention of coffee being brewed in what is now St. Louis comes from Islam Shahidi in 1549 AD when he mentioned that a certain type of water was used to make iced coffee. This specific drink was popular among the city's Muslim population and was likely brought over by traders or pilgrims on their way to Mecca. Many early coffee drinkers were local merchants or firefighters who would stop by various stores for a quick cup of Joe during lunchtime or after working long hours. By 1833, Judge James Walker had opened his first cafe on Fourth Street which became known as Walker's Cafeteria because it served only coffee until 1840 when it became an open-air market with seating for 100 people. A few years later, John Cepero opened his own café on Third Street which soon became known as Cepero's Cafe due to its high quality espresso drinks and wide selection of Italian food items such as pastas, salads and pizza). In 1846 AD Gabriel Bouchard founded the first bakery in STL with ovens made out of coffeepots which allowed him to produce more than just croissants and doughnuts - he also started selling baked goods including pies (still enjoyed today) and rolls (which became very popular). And finally, in 1868 AD Charles Goodyear established Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company on Main Street which quickly became a center for retailing tires and other rubber products along with its own café where customers could enjoy breakfast foods like eggs benedict or oatmeal cake while they waited for their tire repair services. Bakery owners continued to populate STL during this time but it wasn't until World War II that things really began changing with the arrival of wartime rationing that forced businesses into closed mode without any hope of reopened againuntil well into the 1950s! Some notable STL cafes during this time include The Dutch Bros., The Eagle Cafe (now defunct), Ziegfeld’s Café (later renamed Ahmanson’s) and Denny’s Restaurant – all located within walking distance from each other across town making it easy for Bomber Command wives to get their caffeine fix before work! As STL entered the 21st century things changed once again starting with changes within our city government that limited production within downtown boundaries resulting in an increase in prices associated withartisan coffees outside Downtown limits- something that has not been seen since at least 1987 when Blue Bottle Coffee opened up shop inside Philips Arena! While much has changed since then – we can still be grateful for all theseyears of diverse artisanscreations coming together every day at our local Starbucks!
