The Raymore National Guard detachment was organized on October 1, 1935. The first commander of the detachment was Capt. James J. O'Donnell. The unit was initially stationed at Springfield, Missouri and later at Rolla, Missouri. In 1938, the detachment moved to Moberly, Missouri and in 1939 it became an all-volunteer unit. On July 20, 1941, the Raymore National Guard detachment joined the Army Air Forces as a part of General George Marshall's strategic plan for post-World War II America. In 1945, the Raymore National Guard detachment was placed on activated status and served in Germany until 1946 when it returned home to United States soil. From 1951 to 1957, members of the contingent served in Vietnam as part of Operation Market Time which aimed to withdraw American forces from South Vietnam before they were committed fully into that war by President Dwight D Eisenhower and his Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. After their return home from duty in Vietnam, members of the national guard detachment continued serving through August 1976 when its Standby Reserve Component status ended effective with no new deployments planned or authorized for that year
Raymore is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Raymore was founded in 1853 by John Cray and his family as a small farming community on the edge of what is now Springfield Township. The name means "Hillsborough Settlement" in English and "Rayleigh Settlement" in French. In 1871, when three brothers named John Cray bought land from David Place for $8 per acre (2 hectares), they decided to rename their new community Raymore after one of their father's connections to England - Sir William Rayleigh (1768-1837). The original village had only 14 houses and no Post Office; but within two years it had grown to about 100 people with a blacksmith shop, flour mill and cattle market/shipping point. In 1907 the first school building was built, followed by a store and post office in 1909. A hotel opened in 1916 which remains extant today as the Raymore Resort Hotel & Casino The discovery of oil near Springfield led to an increase in business around Raymore and development of an associated refinery; however, this too led to heavy economic decline over time due primarily to competition from nearby towns that began enjoying lower natural gas prices caused by increased production elsewhere. As industry declined so did jobs opportunities here which has left many residents searching for other opportunities outside of Missouri City or Springfield since those jobs have become increasingly difficult to find without experience or education beyond high school diploma or less. For many decades there has been significant retail use here including several convenience stores/grocery stores along with two drive-in restaurants: KFC restaurant located off US Highway 63 east of town center serving fast food until 7pm daily while Pizza Hut operates a Papa John’s Pizza location adjacent to High School Gymnasium across US Highway 63 south from town center serving pizza until 10pm nightly weekdays while also having several hundred square feet (95 m²) available for outdoor living including Putting green tennis court, swimming pool and children’s playpen complete with slide & water balloon launcher accessible from inside building during summer months Only one grocery store remaining open today closed down due lack of customers over recent years multiple auto parts stores closed recently all related businesses are either inactive or relocated away from maintown core since late 2007 raymore resort hotel & casino employment has dropped significantly

Raymore is a town in Raymore County, Missouri, United States. The population was 563 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1837 by John A. Ray and his family as a farming community on the east bank of the Arkansas River. In 1853, it became an incorporated village. In 1924, it merged with neighboring towns of Lenoir City and Whitney to form what is now known as Raymore-Lenoir City-Whitney. The first settler in what is now Raymore was John A. Ray who arrived there in 1837 from Kentucky with his family. He built a log cabin on the east bank of the Arkansas River and started trading fur goods with Indians along the river for goods they could not produce themselves such as timber and maize. The first school in what is now Raymore was established in 1840 by Mrs. Lillie Humes which taught children between the ages of five and ten years old Indian history, language, mathematics, arithmetic, astronomy etc.. The town charter was granted toRaymore on December 15th 1853 by Governor James Kiefer Butler after he toured the area looking for a new home for his constituents who had been displaced by warring factions within their own state of Missouri.. The original plat (land grant) included 350 acres (174 hectares) of land including present dayRaymore Village buildings and backyards! On July 1st 1907 Raymore amalgamated with Lenoir City to form what is now known as "the 3 Towns". This merger allowed residents living within each city limits full access to all services available within both cities without having to leave either city alone… this policy remains today! In 1920 when downtown Whitney changed its name from "Downtown Whitney" to "Raymore-Lenoir City-Whitney", one of Mayor Cramer's goals was that all businesses within those boundaries should be given same level respect regardless of their stature or location inside or outside their respective cities limits! In 1925 when ordinance #105 passed imposing Prohibition & making much needed changes to local government structure & business regulations effective immediately; every resident over 21 must have a liquor license which required several days late payment/withholding before license would be valid… this law remains effective today!
