When he returned home from those deployments, he decided it was time for another go at helping others through philanthropy. In 2003, Sergeant Gentry founded Soldier On Target- an organization which provides support to wounded soldiers throughout Missouri and beyond. Since then, SOT has given back more than $100,000 to local charities! It’s clear that generosity does not come easy for this man- his dedication goes well beyond simply giving back money- he truly wants to make a difference in people’s lives! 1998-present: The Marshall County Sheriff's Department has deployed an Army National Guard unit to help with the Christmas season.
Marshall was founded by a father and son in 1836. The town had been named for General James Marshall, who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The father, John Marshall, came from a family of farmers in Kentucky. When the elder Marshall died in 1838, his son took over the farm and business. He started a mill and also developed an agricultural industry. In 1846, John Marshal's grandson, Charles Marshall, moved to Missouri from Ohio to take over the business. He became one of America's leading merchants and political figure. In 1861, when Confederate forces invaded Missouri, Charles Marshall sided with the Union side and his businesses were destroyed by Confederate troops. He turned his home into a military hospital to care for war veterans. After the war ended, he resumed his commercial life but also devoted himself to politics as a Democrat. In 1928 he was elected governor of Missouri and served until 1951 when he retired due to age. He is considered one of America's most successful entrepreneurs ever born in Missouri."

The first military organizations were militias, which were groups of friends and family who fought together to protect their homes and communities. Militia disbanded when they became too powerful. In the 16th century, the Spanish Armada was a massive fleet of ships that attempted to invade England. The navy defeated the armada, and the king was able to take back his country. This event helped spawn the modern armed forces. The French Revolution changed everything in France. On July 4, 1792, Napoleon Bonaparte came to power with a promise to change France forever. He declared himself emperor of all Europe, and he began planning for WWI by creating an army. Over time, different countries added their own armies to help fight WWI. WWI ended with Germany winning both World Wars on November 11th, 1939. This event helped define Germany as a superpower and made it possible for them to fund their own military campaigns during WWII. After WWII ended, Germany started experiencing economic problems that led them into another world war in 1945 called “the Cold War” (1946-1991). In this conflict, the Western Allies (the United States of America; Great Britain; France) opposed the Soviet Union (Russia), while East German Germans (East Germany) supported the Soviet Union because they saw it as a protector against Nazi Germany’s aggression in Europe.(Fritz Springmeier/Wikimedia Commons)

Marshall is a small town in Johnson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,101 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first settlers in Marshall were Levi Cook and his family who arrived in 1831. They built a cabin on the banks of the Missouri River and named it "Cook's Trace." The first post office was established in 1836, and the name changed to "Marshall" in 1876. A sawmill was founded here by Elisha Gray in 1830. It became one of the leading sawmills on the Great Plains. The mill caught fire in 1861 and burned down; but as soon as firefighters arrived, they put it out. In 1865, General Order No. 10 orders all male residents of Union County to leave for Confederate service duringthe American Civil War. Many citizens chose to stay and fight rather than go home; some even formed militias or companies! Afterward, many men returned to their homes and farms--marking Marshall's distinction as one of Union County's few remaining towns without military installations during wartime (the others being Topeka). The townPost Office closed its doors on December 31st 1922 due to budget cuts within the Postmaster General's office which also caused other government shutdowns that year across America at that time; however Marshall reopened on January 2nd 1923 under new management with Edwin Crouch as Manager/President-elect after he won election as Mayoralty candidate against incumbent John Slingerland (D-Kansas City). He served until May 3rd 1933 when he resigned due to health reasons after having been diagnosed with cancer just before leaving office becoming mayoralty candidate for again vs incumbent Slingerland once more only this time winning by an overwhelming margin over him becoming sole elected Mayor from then on until his death effective November 30th 1974 subsequent to another successful mayoral campaign waged by future UPI Managing Editor Harry Tuttle who had succeeded him when he resigned following his death less than two months later on December 4th1974 making him succeeding mayoralty Mark Lenora Sykes who had been appointed interim manager upon Tuttle’s resignation effective January 1st1975 through October 15th 1975 upon expiration of her term followingLenora’s retirement effective November 15th 1975 following which position she was succeeded by current Mayor Melvin Leroy Hillman
Marshall was founded in 1821 by Jacob and Anna Marshall. The town grew rapidly due to the production of commodities such as corn, cotton, and bacon. It became a major agricultural center during the 19th century. In 1865, the Union army captured Marshall after a bloody battle with Confederate forces. The town quickly rebuilt and thrived under Union rule. During World War II, Marshall served as an important munitions plant in Missouri. As a result of its importance, the town experienced significant growth during the postwar years. However, recent economic conditions have caused it to decline severely.
