In 1916, Manchester was named "Oneida Coffee Center" after Oneida Mills Corporation established its plant there. Manchester's coffee history begins with Reuben Payne's founding of Payne's Sawmill and Lumberyard in 1836. The sawmill became an important center for coffee production due to its location on the Arkansas River Valley between present-day Brazil and Jacksonville, Missouri. During this time, Manchester was considered one of the most important coffee centers in America due to its strategic location and access to resources such as timber and water.Payne's mills produced high-quality coffee until World War I when they were taken over by Oneida Mills Corporation. Oneida Mills Corporation established its plant in 1916 on land donated by businessman John Jostenfeldt. At that time, Oneida Mills Corporation became one of the leading producers of fine roasts beans from Sumatra and Javabeans (a type of bean used for Indonesian coffees). With their new facility, Oneida Mills Corporation produced some of the world's best-quality coffee until it closed operations in 1986. Since Oneida Mills Corporation closed operations, many other companies have also contributed to Manchester's rich caffeine history including Peet’s Coffee Company (founded 1892), Belton Coffee Company (founded 1915), First National Trading Company (founded 1907), Potteries Coffee Co., Incorporated (established 1906), Koffee Klatch CO., INC.(established 1922) and Illini Roasters(established 1945). Manchester is located on the eastern border of St. Louis County and is bordered by East Peoria Township to the south and east, Oxford Township to the north, and Dunkirk Township to the west. Manchester's ZIP code is 64102. The first known inhabitants of Manchester were two brothers, Jacob and Nicholas Martins who settled in what is now Manchester in 1809. They founded a small log cabin on a bluff overlooking the river which they named "Mansfield." In 1827 when David Hartman purchased land from Nicholas Martins for $1 cash he renamed it "Manchester" after his home town of Mansfield in England. After years of growth and development as a village due to its fertile farmland, industry and commerce it was designated as an official city by state law on April 22nd 1912 with Mayor Wm Fenton appointed by Governor John A. Logan as mayor pro Tem with powers over all aspects of city government including police and firefighting services within limits set forth in state statute; this designation lasted until November 2nd 1915 when it was again re-designated as a town by state law ( article III section 9) During World War I Manchester played an important role as both an air raid shelter for civilians from areas near gas plants and industrial facilities or potential targets such as munitions factories or trenches dug across open fields used by soldiers during artillery barrages; however no one died from air raids or combat injuries sustained during that conflict On July 4th 1925 City officials made history when they erected a large stone monument at Main Street & Elm Street which read "In memory of those who have given their lives while serving our country - American heroes." The name changes back to "Manchester" on October 1st 1929 following passage of State Statute 3755 which provided for automatic change whenever any municipality increased its population by more than 10% After years of being called "StLouis County's Second City", on January 1st 1965 Manchester became part of Kansas City metropolitan area through merger with other locales within that area including Independence (now Kansas City), Overland Park (now Shawnee Heights), Topeka (now Wichita), Olathe (now Lawrenceburg) and others Today there are nearly 3500 businesses operating out of 575 commercial districts located throughout Greater Manchester with over 1000 restaurants/cafés/bars & light snacks available 24 hours per day along with several thousand retail spaces providing everything from groceries to clothing stores/boutiques to medical supplies

In 1912, Starbucks opened their first U.S store which was located at 6th and Lafayette Streets in Seattle Washington). By 1971 Starbucks had acquired Keurig fame (itself originated with Dutch brewers Philips Koffiehuis) when they began producing their own coffee beans under the name “ keurig Coffee Company” (the name stuck). In 1984, Starbucks purchased Jamba Juice which gave them control over all juice sales within their brand as well as purchase of several other brands including Caribou Coffee, Froot Loops, Toosie's Place etc.). In 2002, Starbucks announced that its entire retail business would be merged into Federated Department Stores Incorporated giving them control over almost all US grocery stores as well as many international stores (including biggest concentration outside of North America). This move allowed them to compete more effectively against larger supermarket chains like Walmart et al.. Although this merger did not go entirely according to plan - Federated went bankrupt in 2011 - it shows that even large corporations can have failures if they are not careful about their strategic planning
