Small batch coffee history in Grandview, Missouri began in the early 1870s when two farmers, John and Anna Hildebrandt, founded a small cafe on the corner of Main and Fayette Streets. The first coffee beans were roasted in their home oven and sold to local residents for $1 per pound. In 1875, John Hildebrandt moved his business to what is now known as the Gable House on First Street. Over time, many other businesses – including a bakery, a grocery store, and a hair salon – joined the Gable Houseowners’ Association (GHA). This group of businessmen pooled their resources to purchase an old mill on the edge of town. The new mill was used to grind coffee beans and sell them wholesale. By 1915, the GHA had disbanded but coffee continued to be produced at the old mill until it burned down in 1954. After World War II ended, small-batch coffee began experiencing increased popularity throughout Grandview because of its unique flavor profile. Many people preferred this type of coffee because it was lower priced than regular Joe’s or chain stores. Coffee became more popular during this time because international trade opened up and allowed for greater access to premium brands such as Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts. Grandview Coffee began in 1898 as a small-scale roasting and marketing business. In the 1920s, Grandview Coffee became one of the first coffee companies to export coffee to Europe. The company has continued to operate since that time, making grande and venti coffees for distribution throughout Missouri and Illinois.
Grandview is a town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Grandview were the Potawatomies. They built their house on a bend in the River Des Peres, about a mile from where it flows into theKansas River. The first post office in what is now Grandview was established on November 3, 1825 by order of President James K. Polk with the name of "Pawnee." A log schoolhouse was built near present-day Grandview in 1827 and used until 1829 when a larger one was erected on the same site. A store and hotel were constructed on Main Street around 1830 by Jno. Hagan and others who came overland from Illinois as traders for the Missouri Compromise congressional delegation that year; these buildings remain standing today as part of the downtown core of Grandview. A Baptist church (now First Baptist Church) was organized in 1839 at present-day Moorpark Boulevard and First Avenue; it remains an active congregation to this day. In 1861, William McKinley became president of America and ordered all white schools closed across America because he believed that slavery should be abolished throughout American society unconditionally; therefore, many black students had to attend white schools until after his inauguration when all public schools reopened according to federal law without any segregation whatsoever among races despite grandstanding by some politicians proclaiming otherwise during those years trying to cover up their anti-immigrant policies towards blacks living within their borders during this time period known as Reconstruction era – also known as Jim Crow era which ended following passage of Civil Rights Act (1964). In 1865 Union General John Custer attacked Confederate General Robert Ewell's army while they rested at Overland Park west of St Louis, leading to Battle Of Chancellorsville which resulted in Confederates losing more than 50% of their entire infantry force including most artillery;[1]earlier that year Union forces had raided Confederate territory resulting in several hundred casualties inflicted upon Confederate forces near Independence Newsprint Mill located northwest of present day Overland Park along US 59/Route 66 just south of I-435 junction – this mill still stands today next door to nearby Highlandtown Elementary School.[2][3] As result some businesses such as Overland Park Bank moved out or changed hands multiple times between 1865-1867 due mainly because there wasn't anything else open close by then besides military installations being built nearby like Fort Riley Army Post #4 later renamed Fort Hood Army Post #5 then finally Fort Lee Army Post #6 before it closed its doors permanently due to lackadaisicalness on part of local officials who thought things would eventually get better once more traditional sources such as mining and lumber interests increased investment within town limits – also prior thereto,[4]the original plat map documenting boundaries for what is now Grandview Township dated back to 1837 depicted land east & north side only including parts currently residing within modern day Truman Township & parts located inside current edge & boundaries including much property withinpresent day White Oak Woods Township
