The next documented purchase happened in 1829 when James Fenton bought three slaves from a freed slave named Jacobs for $100 US. In 1840, another white buyer, David Sellers, purchased four enslaved women from Ebenezer Brown for $150 US. This was also one of only two times that black Americans purchased property within 10 miles of McComb City limits at this time. In 1845, Confederate General Robert Easley sold Confederate soldiers captured during the Battle of Selma to General Nathaniel Banks for $5 US each. Afterward, banks began offering these prisoners Gifts as part of prisoner exchanges with Union forces. One such Gift was given to Private John Hogg by General Banks while he was camping outside Memphis on July 11th – Hogg’s birthday – after being successfully exchanged from Union custody.[1] In 1865, following Lincoln’s assassination, Confederate General Pemberton surrendered at Appomattox Court House and all remaining Confederate forces were destroyed within hours by Union troops under command Major-General Samuel Johnson McDowell. This event is significant because it marked the end of both slavery and military resistance inside Alabama; thereafter all southern states became Union territory subject to taxation and military control.[2] Gift buying continued throughout Reconstruction era until about 1870 when it largely stopped due to social stigma attached to such activities among most Mississippians[3]. However there are some references to gift purchasing restarting again around this time but no clear evidence exists beyond unsubstantiated rumors[4]. It should be noted that there is no record or documentary evidence verifying any marine gift transactions between McComb citizens or businesses prior to 1870[5]. Mccomb, Mississippi is a small town located in Shelby County, Mississippi. The population of McComb was 9,848 at the 2010 census. The downtown area of McComb is home to many businesses and cultural attractions. In addition to its downtown area, McComb has several neighborhoods including the Linkshells community which is situated along the river. The history of Mccomb began with African Americans who arrived in the early 1800s. One of the first black families to live in McCombsville was the Lunsford family. They were descendants of enslaved Africans who had been brought to America by General James Longstreet as part of his expedition against rebel forces in 1818. The Lunsford family built a cabin on what is now State Road 11KK near present-day Interstate 20 and Highway 59A. Their home became known as "The Old plantation." Later on, other blacks moved into McCombsville from surrounding towns and counties. Among these settlers were John Slaton (1787-1868), Ebenezer Crouch (1812-1888), Isaiah Thomas (baptized 1820), Samuel Morse (1827-1914), George Washington Wiley (died 1865) and Absalom Payne (came from England). All these people helped form what is now known as "The Birmingham Group" which included neighboring towns such as Olive Branch and Batesburg before moving their homes to Jackson County in 1838. This group purchased land east of Olive Branch and began construction on what would become Mccombsville Landing on the banks of Mobile River where they established themselves as farmers and merchants. McCombsville also served as an important stop for travelers heading westward during that era; it was here that abolitionist Frederick Douglass stopped for supplies while traveling through Alabama in 1845 before continuing his journey northward across Mississippi to Cincinnati, Ohio two years later than he'd planned! In 1860, when Confederate troops invaded Union territory adjacent to Shelby County, most residents chose not to fight because they believed that slavery could never be defeated without war - thus choosing instead to flee South rather than live under one rule forever more. Many residents returned after Union troops retreated but many others remained behind until 1865 when all remaining slaves were freed by Union General Ulysses S Grant's army! Consequently, while Mccombsville did not experience significant violence during Reconstruction following secession; it did suffer some economic hardship due largely to this period's currency reformulation policies implemented by both federal authorities and local businessmen! During World War II much activity took place within McCombsville thanks largely theretoinwise its proximityto airfields used by both AmericanAAFand RAF pilots staging operations over Normandy & Southern Germany - providing numerous opportunities for retail shopping at local Army stores

They built their homes near the creek that forms Mccomb's main source of water supply and developed a courthouse, schoolhouse, store, post office, and other infrastructure soon thereafter. By 1840, however, many of these pioneers had gone home because of economic problems caused by the widespread Panic of 1837. However, many others decided to stay in Mccomb because they found its natural resources valuable – including coal mined at nearby Mount Carmel Mines – and its location convenient for getting around via wagon or horseback ride into neighboring counties (such as Yazoo County).
