The history of the National Guard in Lino Lakes, Minnesota goes back to 1907. The first national guard unit was organized on February 15th, 1907 by Governor John D. Rockefeller as a way to provide military protection for the citizens of Lino Lakes. At that time, there were no national guards units stationed in the state of Minnesota and the only troops used for law enforcement purposes were from Wisconsin and Iowa. In 1927, State Senator Clarence Wickersham proposed creating a National Guard unit in Lino Lakes and it was eventually ratified by the state senate on March 4th. The unit was activated on July 1st and consisted of thirty-six soldiers from Lino Lakes who served until 1936. In 1938, the Minnesota Board of Regents passed an act which provided for an additional battalion within the National Guard armory in Minneapolis. On December 9th, 1938, a company of infantrymen from Lino Lakes arrived at Fort Snelling to become part ofthe 7th Infantry Regiment (National Guards). On November 27th, 1941 a group of thirteen men from Lino Lakes traveled to St Cloud to join up with Company H (2nd Battalion) 3rd Minnesota Infantry Regiment (National Guards) during World War II. After serving their country fully during World War II they returned home in 1946 and disbanded on November 30th due to budget cuts within the National Guard organization. In 1957 local businesses formed a committee to start collecting old national guard medals and items related thereto which would be put into storage until such time as enough donations could be gathered together to create a museum or display space for them. On May 25th 1959 local business owner/director Dale Kapp donated six hundred artifacts belongingto members of the “Lino Lakenaires” organizations who fought in World War I-1918 and World War II including five medals plus sixty-four service hats representing over two thousand hours service! This donation marked not onlythe beginningof the museum but alsothe endof any effortslocal businesses may have had had towards building one! On October 18th 1990 Local Businessman Donny Ruether donated two thousand eight hundred fifty three pieces worthof memorabilia associated with units that servedin bothWorld Wars I & II along with three full combat uniforms wornduring those wars! This donationmarkednot justthe openingofthe museum but alsothe beginningofan era whereMuseumand DisplaySpaceforLinoLakeMNnationalguardmuseumwouldbe established! Lino Lakes, Minnesota is a small town located in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and has been inhabited by Vikings for over 1000 years. Lino Lake was named after the ancient Linnæus River that flowed through central Minnesota. The first settler in what is now Lino Lakes was Norwegian immigrant Trygve Olsen who built a cabin on the lake in 1857. Mr. Olsen’s cabin still stands today and is open to the public as a museum. In 1905, Finnish immigrants Ole Harjunen and Vilhelm Myhrvold settled in what is now Lino Lakes and started a grocery store. They also raised chickens, cows, pigs and horses on the property which they later sold to local farmers for haying, milk production or other purposes. In 1916, Swedish immigrants Gustaf Bergman and Axel Nordqvist arrived in Lino Lakes from Sverige to start a lumber company which would eventually be renamed Bergmans Timber Company of America (BTCA). The company manufactured furniture, building materials and other items until it merged with United States Steel Corporation in 1983. From its inception until 1980 BTCA was one of the most successful American companies in terms of exports with sales totaling $2 billion per year! The town of Lino Lakes experienced some heavy population growth during World War II due to military activity at nearby Duluth Naval Base Camp Grant which included construction of several thousand housing units for troops stationed there including many civilian women who worked on various projects around Duluth such as creating roads and filling potholes! After the war ended however, most residents returned home to their farms or villages elsewhere within Minnesota; only a few hundred remained by 1960! Today’s economy revolves around agriculture with many people working at farmsteads scattered throughout rural counties east of Stroudsburg; these include hay production along with produce like apples, potatoes etc., used primarily for human consumption but also exported abroad! There are also several businesses established here such as AIG Insurance Companies Incorporated (AIIG) – founded in 1927 by insurance executive John Pritzker – which provides reinsurance services to agricultural interests all across North America; this includes operations out of their office Building located just north of downtown Lino Lakes; as well as real estate firms like Hennepin County Regional Chamber Of Commerce (HCRM), formed back when Fridtjof Nansen served as County Commissioner here; this organization promotes economic development within its jurisdictional boundaries via events & programs focused on promoting business growth & entrepreneurship among its membership!
