Brooklyn Park is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 6,436 at the 2010 census, up from 4,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area and is adjacent to Minneapolis-St. Paul on one side and Rochester on the other. The name Brooklyn Park comes from a location called "Brooklyn Ferry Landing" on an arm of Lake Superior that connected Buffalo, New York with Duluth, Minnesota. In 1881, a post office was established at what is now Brooklyn Park and mail was brought downriver by boat to Duluth until 1903 when a railroad arrived and took over the operation. The first store in Brooklyn Park opened in 1892 as J & H Dunham's mercantile store across from what is now First Baptist Church (built 1915). In 1925, Brooklyn Park annexed parts of neighboring Maple Grove which made it one of the first cities inMinnesota to have an all-black school system; Maple Grove High School closed in 1966 but portions were reopened as Brooklyn Park Middle School for African Americans which remained open until 1973 when it merged with nearby Brownville Junior/Senior High School to form Maple Grove-Brownville HS. On July 1, 1998, Minneapolis–Saint Paul reincorporated as a city within its own right following years of debate surrounding whether or not it should be done so because it would have increased its tax base by 15%. On November 3rd ballot initiatives were placed on ballots throughout Minnesota recognizing four communities within Minneapolis/StPaul limits (Brooklyn Park*, Maywood*, Southtown*), authorizing annexation if approved then by referendum; however no annexation occurred due to lack of support among residents in those communities. It wasn't until 2018 that plans emerged for another annexation proposal within Brooklyn Park itself; this time through land acquisition rather than referendum as had been done before.* The annexation would include portions of Maywood located east of Interstate 35W just south of Greenbush Road while Southtown would remain within St Paul boundaries between Cedar Avenue NE and University Avenue NW

Brooklyn Park, Minnesota is a small town in the United States. It is located on the east side of the River Mississippi, about 30 miles northeast of Minneapolis. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. Brooklyn Park was founded in 1854 by Norwegian immigrants who had come to Minnesota during the Gold Rush. The name comes from Brooklyn, New York City. Brooklyn Park is one of two towns in Ramsey County that are still designated as “ghost towns” by the county government; other ghost towns are Winona and Rice Lake. According to legend, when residents of these two villages were forced to leave their homes because gold prospects had failed there were cries from the villagers for help finding new locations for themselves and for their families, which continued until around 1900. The first settler in Brooklyn Park was Ole Hansen, who arrived in 1855. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1860, Odd Olsen moved to Brooklyn Park from Hennepin County and started a grocery store here with his brother Lars Olsen. In 1865, Jonas Sletten settled here and built a sawmill on current site of Community Hall Drive (now part of State Highway 6). In 1870–71 Johan Svendsen established an orange grove on land near present-day Elmira Road and Third Street; it remains one of Twin Cities’ most important agricultural enterprises today. Brooklyn Park also became home to several churches: First Lutheran Church (1856), Second Presbyterian Church (1860), Methodist Episcopal Chapel (1865) and Baptist church (1870). In 1886–87 three brothers—John Fenton*, George Wirthlin*—founded what would become First National Bank in downtown Brooklyn Park after purchasing land southeast of Main Street from Rasmuson & Rasmussen Brothers mercantile firm*. At this time the town consisted only of small farms surrounding a single village center that served as its bank headquarters and stores.* In 1893–94 John Fenton donated land north of Main Street along Interstate 35W for use as a school district; this marked the beginning of what has been called “the community movement” within Brooklyn Park.* In 1903 local farmers formed a cooperative society known as The Farmers Union* which began producing hay products† fromfenugreek fields across five counties bordering Iowa* (and later throughout America); this led eventually to organized agriculture throughoutMinnesota *. On July 16th 1909 voters approved incorporation into Minneapolis under full cityhood status† following yearslong debate between locals and officials over whether or not they should secede from Minneapolis because their economy differed so much from thatgrowing city center*.
