One of the most famous marine deployments was in Rockville, Maryland in 1996 when marines gifted an entire battalion of guitars to a local school. Rockville is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 31,549 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Prince George's County and has been its most populous municipality since it was formed in 1871. Rockville is located on the Eastern Branch of the Potomac River and within easy commuting distance of Washington D.C., Baltimore, and other major metropolitan areas. The first European to set eyes on what would become Rockville came across one of these small streams that flow through the area now known as Rosslyn Park on November 3rd, 1607 when Captain John Smith discovered what he thought were two mines near present-day Rockville Centre. He named them "Winchester" after his home town in England and reported back to his superiors there about this wonderful site. In 1795, a band of Indians led by Chief Powhatan attacked British settlements at Fort Necessity along the Potomac River en route to invade Virginia from Canada. A force under General Edward Braddock successfully defended Fort Necessity against an attack by 400 Indian warriors for three days before retreating into Canada with their spoils (about 170 men, women and children). In retaliation for this successful defense, General James Ewing decided to move all English settlements east of the Anacostia River westward onto religious grounds – see Pocahontas Incident - which effectively ended British control over much of eastern North America for more than a century! When America became a separate country after independence from Great Britain in 1776, many landowners north of Philadelphia chose not to recognize the new nation because they felt they had been taken advantage of during Confederation (the years following Lord Howe's Invasion). Some members of Congress did try to create a government based upon principles rather than personal wealth but soon realized that such power would be concentrated within those few wealthy individuals who could also fund political campaigns - so they repealed all Continental Currency Act resolutionsHR 1-2/9/1777 et al.. This created an opportunity for George Washington who accepted President Thomas Jefferson's invitation to be its first Prime Minister! With vast amounts still available in Coin currency circulating among Americans only thanks to those controlling politics at home - too little was done with this new power! As late as 1824 some 10% or so of U.S.'s exports went out via packet ship from Chesapeake Bay

The first store in what is now Rockville was called "The Gopher" and opened on Huntingdon Road in1781 by Captain John Smith's forces during their invasion of British North America
