The National Guard in New Carrollton, Maryland has been providing service to the community since 1798. The unit was first organized as a company of volunteers under the command of Colonel George Washington. In 1814, New Carrollton became the capital of the United States and the regiment was redesignated as a brigade under General James K. Polk. In 1861, New Carrollton became the capital of Maryland and the brigade was redesignated as a division under General Winfield Scott Hancock. On July 14, 1862, General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House and all Union forces were disbanded in Maryland. The regiment continued to serve until 1865 when it was mustered out at Fort Meade on May 10th.
New Carrollton is a city in Howard County, Maryland, United States. The population was 21,821 at the 2010 census. It lies on the north bank of the Potomac River and is bordered by Bethesda to the east, Silver Spring to the south, Rockville to the west and Fredericktown on the northwest. The town's name is derived from New Kent County, Virginia where many of its residents had origins. The first settler in New Carrollton was John Smith who arrived in 1795. The town was originally established as a small community on land that now forms part of neighbor Bethesda. In 1824 it became an incorporated village under the name of Friendship Heights with a population of 100 people. In 1867 New Carrollton became one of six towns in Howard County when it was created from portions of Prince George's and Montgomery counties. At that time it had a population of 3200 residents and $6,500 (2010 dollars) in taxable property value. In 1976 most of what is now Inner Harbor closed because of development around Prince George's Plaza Shopping Center which then occupied much of what is now New Carrollton proper including Capitol Hill and much residential east-west streets between Judiciary Square and Federal Street were developed into office parks called "Eagle Hills" (later changed to "New Carrollton"). Many single family homes were demolished for these projects but many others remain today as well as several churches which contribute significantly to Old Georgetown Cemetery located just off I-495 exit 234A just south/west of New Carrollton High School across from Memorial Stadiums football field(now used by Washington & Lee University). For all practical purposes everything within walking distance or drive has been developed into some form or another since then so there can be no definitive answer about whether or not this constitutes "New Carrollton." While Eagle Hills Office Park may have ended up being more accurately characterized as "New CarrollTON" due mostly to historical inaccuracies therein rather than any real difference in reality however given how common such mistakes are it seems fair either way so long as you include both addresses therein!

New Carrollton is a small town in Prince Edward County, Maryland, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Montgomery County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in New Carrollton was James Hargrave, who arrived in 1784 and named it after his wealthy father's estate in England. In 1814, when Baltimore became a state and New Carrollton became its capital, John Fenton bought the land from Hargrave for $10 per acre (2 km²). He donated the land to the community as a public park. Fenton served as mayor of New Carrollton from 1827 to 1830 and again from 1835 to 1840; he was also a justice of the peace. When Baltimore City annexed Prince Edward County in 1847, Fenton lobbied unsuccessfully for its incorporation into city limits. He died at age 82 in 1850 without having seen his community transformed into an urban center by incorporation or development. In 1865–66 Julius Rosenwald built what is now known as Rosenwald Hall on property that had been donated by Fenton to be used as an agricultural school and research station. Rosenwald was president of Sears Roebuck & Company and one of America's most successful entrepreneurs; he played an important role in bringing electric power to rural America and helping create Wellesley Village near Sears Tower in Chicago during World War II. After Rosenwald's death in 1926, his widow donated much of her husband's estate—including Rosenwald Hall—to New Carrollton College for use as a learning center/library/community center/. In 1927–28 Earlham College students founded the American Legion Auxiliary here with help from local businessman Harry Wohlgemuth Jr.. The Legion has been headquartered here ever since (the first Post Office opened here on July 1, 1928). In 1953–54 Anne Frank guest-edited "National Geographic" magazine’s special section on “A Place Among Friends” about her family’s experiences living hidden behind German lines during World War II through their participation with Dutch SS troops guarding their hiding place at Amsterdam’s Oosterbeek concentration camp; this issue also featured articles about other Holocaust survivors living among Americans during that time period including Dorothy Day and Martin Luther King Jr.. After new stores were built along I-270 throughout Montgomery County beginning around 1973 due to suburban growthspurrification continuing until today there are few remnants of old downtown New Carrolton save some original buildings such as storage areas still standing behind high rises along I-270
New Carrollton was founded in 1791 by John Nicholson and his wife, Elizabeth. It quickly became a thriving community with a well-developed infrastructure. The town's early leaders were instrumental in developing the area's commerical and social life. New Carrollton thrived during the late 18th century as a result of its easy access to transportation, ample land available for development, and high quality of life. During the 19th century, New Carrollton experienced growth due to its strategic location within the growing Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. The town flourished as an important commercial center with many businesses located on President Street. Many of New Carrollton's prominent citizens made significant contributions to their communities through their work or politics. In addition, many new homes were built in the town during this time period. In 1916, New Carrollton was renamed after General George Washington Carver who had served in World War I and later became an influential advocate for education reform around Maryland. Carver's donation helped establish the Carver School System which still operates today in New Carrollton. During World War II, New Carrollton played an important role in supplying war-time munitions production facilities throughout Maryland and Virginia. Additionally, several key military installations were situated in or near New Carrollton such as Fort Belvoir and Fort Myer (now Arlington National Cemetery).
