One of the most popular gifts given to Soldiers and their families during the late 1800s was a military uniform. Uniforms were often given as part of CHRISTMAS or Easter Presents, and many Soldiers and their families never had occasion to wear them again after they left the service. However, there are a few uniforms that have been kept by the Radcliff County Sheriff's Department since 1875. These uniforms are now on display in the courthouse Annex. The sheriff's department first received uniforms from England in 1875. The English style uniform was not well received by American Officers, so it was decided to modify the design slightly. This modification made the uniforms more comfortable for officers to wear, as well as adding an extra layer of protection against weather conditions. A new badge was also developed for this unit; it featured a sheriff's star on an olive field background. This badge is still worn today by deputies working for Radcliff County Sheriff's Department."

Radcliff is a small town in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1881 by John and Martha Wetherbee. They named it after their friend, Sir Walter Scott's hero and mentor, Radcliffe Knyvett (1770-1845). Radcliffe was an English officer who served in North America during the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. In 1881, he had bought land east of present-day Radcliff from J.D. Morehead for $3 per acre. In 1907, Jens Jensen opened what is now known as Broad Ripple Brewery on Main Street in Radcliff with his wife Ruthie Jensen. The brewery has been in continuous operation since that date and currently produces over 100 different beers under its three brands: Broad Ripple, Drake's Pale Ale and Olde Hickory Porter House Ale. Jensen also owns a number of other businesses including two restaurants (the Deer Park Grill & Grille and the Red Lion), a convenience store (the Big Apple Grocery), a pawnshop (the Pawn Shop), four mobile home parks (Radcliff Mobile Home Park #1, #2, #3 & #4) as well as nine tract homes located throughout the community which were built between 1984 and 1989 to provide housing for local farmers during hard times when crops failed or prices went down too low for buyers to afford them outright. The Community Chest program provides financial assistance to individuals who are experiencing economic hardships such as joblessness or homelessness; this assistance can be used for groceries or rent/mortgage payments alone or together with other needs such as car repairs or new clothes due to budget restrictions caused by global recession conditions at the time of its inception. In 2009-2010, Reverend Darrell Easley gave presentations on African American History Month throughout each park starting withRadcliff Mobile Home Park #1 and ending at Greenwood Cemetery(). Each presentation taught about one particular topic related to African American History within that park! This continues today with presentations given about every Wednesday morning from 9am until 12pm at Greenwood Cemetery...including summer programming! The town of Radcliff, Kentucky was founded in 1821 by John H. Radcliffe and his wife Elizabeth. The community quickly grew as a result of its location on the main road between Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. In 1828, the town became a part of the newly formed county of Hardin. By 1830, the population had increased to around 500 residents. In 1840, Radcliff became a part of the new state of Indiana after it was split along racial lines following the Civil War. From then until 1867, it was governed by a board of commissioners appointed by Governor George Rogers Clark. During this time period, there were many important events that took place in Radcliff including the founding of a school district in 1852 and the construction of a post office in 1865. In 1867, Hardin County merged with other counties to form Jefferson County which includedRadcliff within its boundaries. As a result, Radcliff lost its status as an independent municipality and become one of Jefferson County's numerous villages/towns. Today, it remains an agricultural center with some modest businesses located close to its original downtown core which is still home to most of the town's citizens today (although most have moved away).
