In 1915, The Lexington Herald-Leader published an article about the history of Erlanger and the coffee industry in general. That year, the first national certification program for espresso was created and it was called "Cup of Excellence."
Erlanger is a small town in the Pike County region of Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,726 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. Erlanger is located on the eastern edge of the Great Lakes National Forest. The first permanent settler in what would become Erlanger was John Denton in 1828. Denton purchased land from George Rogers Clark for $2 per acre. In 1831, Samuel Morris founded an agricultural colony called Morristown on some land that he had bought from Denton two years earlier. Morris naming his new community after his father-in-law, James Erlangen, who had settled in western Kentucky two decades earlier and established the first European post office there. In 1834, John Clements acquired 640 acres (250 hectares) northeast of present-day Erlanger from Samuel Morris to establish Clementsville township; it became part of Erlanger Township when it was organized February 5, 1840. Michael Moseley developed a cattle ranch near present-day Erlangersville in 1871 and named it Moseley Ranch after him and his brother Moses; it became part of present day Pike County when it was organized April 12, 1870. On December 17, 1885, a fire destroyed most of downtownErlangen leaving only one building standing –the courthouse –and causing extensive damage to other buildings including many stores and residences within blocks radius around the blaze which left about 20% loss value for both business and residential properties within 3 blocks radius around downtownErlangen during 1985 as well as assessments done by city assessor’s office following fire The original home of Mayor Tom Bartlett until June 30th 2020 where he moved into prior housing following his election victory over incumbent Mayor Russ Ford on July 10th 2020

The first known reference to tactical coffee comes from Dutch soldier Hendrik Vanderborght in 1668. He noted that when he served in India, he noticed that many Indian soldiers drank cold tea without any added spices or milk. This led him to develop what became known as "Dutch Coffee" – a blend of ground blackstrap beans and strong roast Turkish Coffee. In the early 1800s, a number of European nations began developing their own versions of "Dutch Coffee." One such nation was Sweden, which introduced its unique blend called "Swedish Coffee" in 1810. The Swedish Coffee Company became one of the largest producers and sellers of tactical coffee during this time period. By the late 1800s, many different variations of tactical coffee had become popular throughout the world. One such variation was French Press Tactical Coffee, which was developed by Frenchman Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1815. French Press Tactical Coffee featured smaller grinders and greater bitterness than Dutch or Swedish coffees. It also tended to be more sweet than most other types of coffee. During World War II, tactical coffee saw a rise in popularity due to its purported ability to improve infantry morale and enhance combat effectiveness. In particular, British troops were known to enjoy using French Press Tactical Coffees during WWII due their high-quality taste andBrewing process (Figure 1).

Erlanger is a town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,839 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The town was chartered on December 12, 1868, by commissioners John A. Erlanger and George W. Oglesby. The original site of the town was located on what is now the eastern border of Hardin County. On February 17, 1870, the name of the town was changed to Erlangen after Johann Georg Erlangen from Germany who had come to America as a settler in 1837. In 1896, when Hardin County became Kentuckiana District No., Erlanger became its first seat and continued to be so until it lost its seat in 1907 to private citizens James Fenton and Julius Hodge Jr.. In 1922 it regained its seat as part of Kentuckiana District No.. Emerald Park Cemetery is located in downtown Erlanger and contains 527 gravesites excavated between 1915-1917 for a new public cemetery that would have been built near Brownsville but never opened because of World War I restrictions on military burial sites.
