Erlanger is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the German language word "erlangen" meaning "to seize." The first settler in what would become Erlanger were two families who arrived in 1812. A post office was established at Erlanger in 1836, and continued to be operated until it was discontinued in 1938. At that time, the community had a population of just under 100 people. In 1840, three brothers named John Crouch, Solomon Crouch and Nicholas Crouch founded a grist mill on the river near present-day Broadway. They manufactured flour and other feed products from corn they ground themselves using their own power generator and hand saws. The mill closed around 1870; however, evidence suggests it reopened several times throughout its life. In 1907 an agricultural fair was held at which local farmers brought their crops to market. That same year Methodist missionaries opened an outreach station here which continues to this day as First Baptist Church (Erlanger). In 1912 construction began on the current high school building which would become home to the community for over seventy years. On November 1st of that year residents voted to form a village government with a Mayor/Clerk/Treasurer system similar to those used today within municipalities across America On January 1st of 1957, when Pike County became fully organized as a county within Kentucky due to pressure from neighboring states such as Indiana and Missouri - all of which had larger populations - Erlanger became one of its original 7 villages . As part of this changeover process many services were taken away from the Village Government including streetlights (which were turned off), water service (changed back during conversion back into village status), zoning regulations (changed so that homes could only be built up untoGrade M instead of any higher) and even trash collection! Nonetheless through negotiations with both local officials and Ashland County leaders - who currently hold all authority within Pike County proper - things have slowly begun returning back into place including water service while still allowing some freedoms not enjoyed by most other counties... such as having elections every 2 years!

Erlanger is a town in Bourbon County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in Erlanger was made by John and Martha Erlanger on December 12, 1807. They were the parents of Colonel James Fenton and Mrs. Ann Hawkins Hawley who built the first schoolhouse in Erlanger which was called "The Old One". The original log courthouse located on Main Street still stands today and is used as a community center. In 1829, post office officials decided to change the name of the town from "Erlanger" to "Erlange". This was due to an influx of German immigrants who had moved into what is now Bourbon County during that time period. According to local legend, General David Brown's forces burned down three farms near present day Erlanger while he was retreating from battle following his defeat at Fort Donelson on November 9, 1862; this destroyed many homes and businesses in that area for several years afterwards. When soldiers returned home after their victorious campaign against General Forrest they discovered most all buildings had been destroyed or damaged beyond repair so they ordered General Brown's general officer corps (commander-in-chief) Major General John Custer to take possession of whatever property remained and rebuild it according to military regulations as well as possible under civilian supervision - something which never happened because Brown's forces fled before!!"
