The Kansas City, Kansas Army National Guard Historical Museum has a rich military history dating back to the days of the Union. The museum is located in downtown KCK and specializes in military history from World War I through Operation Desert Storm. One of the most famous deployments of the Kansas City, Kansas Army National Guard was during World War II when they were called up to help fight in Europe. In addition to their active duty role, the Guards also served as reserve units for many years.
