Boone, Iowa is a small town located in the extreme northwest corner of the state of Iowa. The population was 753 as of the 2010 census. The history of Boone coffee begins with two brothers, John and George Houghton, who started a small grocery store in 1871. In 1896, they moved to what is now known as the Old Town Market location and opened their first café. The Houghtons were among the early coffee farmers in Boone and continue to operate their business today. In 1953, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weis bought the Original Dutch Bros Coffee Shop from Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kappelhof, which served as an anchor for many years in downtown Boone until it closed its doors in 2001 due to lack of patronage. Today there are several notable locations that offer coffee services including The Dutch Bros., Farmer's Exchange Coffee House (now called River North), Pemaquid Coffee Cooperative (now known as Starbucks), First National Bank & Trust Co-operative Cafeteria (now known as Davenport’s) and Stroudsburg Savings Bank (now known as Shaw’s).

Boone was founded in 1853 by a man named Elijah Boone. The town was initially called "Fayetteville," but changed its name to Boone in 1862 after the Battle of Vicksburg. During World War II, Boones saw some heavy military activity including bombing raids by Nazi Germany that took place over nearby Cedar Rapids and Ottumwa Counties. As a result of this activity, many homes were destroyed or damaged and many residents had to leave their homes due to lack of safe housing options available at that time. It was also during World War II that trucks began arriving regularly from Omaha carrying materials needed for war production such as steel and munitions across Iowa into Missouri and Illinois so numerous bridges were built then too (such as I-70).
