The event – which takes place every year in late October – has been a major draw for shooters and collectors alike since it was founded in 1907. The Gun Show of America (GSA) is one of the largest and most popular firearms shows in the United States. Held annually at the nearby Century Event Center, GSA attracts exhibitors from all over the country as well as buyers from around the globe. This year’s edition will be held on October 26-28, 2017. Warrenville is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The community had a population of 2,871 as of the 2010 census. Warrenville was platted in 1856 by John W. Ford and others under the name of "Fordstown". It was named for General George Armstrong Custer who fought at the Battle of Warrensburg in October 1864. A post office was established at Warrenville on November 3, 1856, and remained open until it was discontinued on July 6, 1912. The first school in Warrenville was a one-room schoolhouse built near present day intersection of State Road 9 and Zion Road. In 1860 local resident Elijah Prentice erected a log school house which served both schools until 1862 when a new brick building replaced it. In 1865 local resident George Beeson donated land to town for a public square which became known as "Beeson Park". The first store opened in 1870 at what is now First National Bank Garden Center; this store continues to be operated by the bank today. In 1876 William Hays organized the Ware County Agricultural Society with his brother John Hays as president; this society later changed its name to the American Legion and drilled soldiers during World War I. In 1913 Wm Tenney organized the first high school class in Kane County and taught future residents such as future Governor Richard J. Daley who attended that institution from 1922 to 1928 before graduating from Drake University with a law degree (Daleys father had been graduated from college). The current high school building opened in 1965 adjacent to First National Bank Garden Center; that building also serves as home to various businesses including KFC (now Pizza Hut) and Sears Roebuck & Co.. A post office called "Fordsboro" also served these areas until 1907 when it moved to Elgin where it continued operation until 1923 when it closed due to lack of mail volume.

Dowling who arrived in 1836. The community name may have been derived from a stream that flowed through the area, which was called Warrenton Creek. The post office was established in 1849 and stayed open until it closed in 1865. The population of Warrenville decreased during the 19th century because of the heavy demand for coal and other resources in Champaign County. However, by 1930, there were only a handful of residents remaining and the community ceased to exist as an independent village. In 1951, the original site of Warrenville was re-erected as part of the new town of Urbana-Champaign and it remained an active local community until its closure in 1978. Today, there are only a few remains of what once were several homes and businesses located within the boundaries of Warrenville. Although many people have tried to revive this abandoned town over the years, no one has succeeded at completely restoring it to its former self; however, some parts of Warrenvill
Warrenville was founded in 1824 by Levi Morton and his brother-in-law, Nathan Phillips. The village grew rapidly, with a population of over 100 people in 1830. In 1836, the village became the county seat of Cook County. In 1847, Warrenville was chartered as a city by the Illinois General Assembly. The city growth continued until it had a population of over 1,000 people in 1860. By 1870, the City of Warrenville had become one of the largest cities in Illinois.
