In 1881, Roll Mills Limited made its first purchase of rights to produce flour from local farmers at $2 per bushel - about what it costs now! That same year saw also the opening of an ice cream parlor called The scoop that continues to serve popular flavors such as mint chocolate chip and pistachio ripple today! With rapid growth and more businesses opening up throughout those years – including two supermarkets – Roll Mills quickly became one of northcentral Illinois' most important communities with over 25 hectares (60 acres) devoted to agriculture alone! And yet despite all this activity there hasn't been any complete demolition or abandonment of what once constituted Roll Mills Village since 1850...quite contrary to many inner city neighborhoods where entire blocks have gone bad due thereto!!!
