It lies about midway between Chicago and Evanston on a bend in the River Des Plaines. According to the2010 census, Northlake has a land area of 26 square miles (71 square kilometers). The first post office in Northlake was established in 1837. The town was named for General Winfield Scott's birthplace, which lay just to the east of where it now stands. It was chartered as an incorporated village in 1859 and became a city in 1912. In 1966 it merged with neighboring Westchester to form one large city called Northlake-Westchester City Center. North Lake is home to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Cook County Regional Court House No. 2 which are both located on State Street near Corporate Drive Northeast corner of Eisenhower Parkway

In Oaxaca, Mexico, in 1812 a man named José María Maga developed a method for roasting coffee beans that would later be called "maga." Maga was an attempt to improve on the methods used to roast coffee beans in Incan Peru. At first, maga beans were processed using hot water and baking soda as harsh chemicals which caused the beans to bitter and taste sour. After some experimentation, José María Maga discovered that adding sulfur dioxide (SO2) helped to improve the flavor profile of his roastings while reducing bitterness levels. The first commercial production of maga coffee began in 1820. At first it was sold only at markets in Oaxaca City. By 1830, however, maga coffee had spread throughout much of central Mexico and became popular among both wealthy people and commoners alike. The drink soon became associated with Mexican culture and folklore, making it an important part of Mexican society. Today, maga coffee continues to play a significant role in Mexican culture and is often consumed as part of traditional regional dishes such as gallo pico de gallo or taquitos al pastor (pork tacos).

Northlake is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,819 at the 2010 census. It is the second-smallest incorporated community in Cook County and the fifth-most populous township. Northlake is bordered by Aurora to the north, Carbondale to the east, Harvey to the south, and Westmont to the west. The first permanent settler in what would become Northlake was James Laughlin on February 15, 1827. Laughlin's family had come from Scotland as refugees during the Napoleonic Wars. They erected a cabin on a hill overlooking Burr Ridge Creek about two miles northeast of present day Northlake. In 1829 John Crouch settled on land just east of where Laughlin's cabin stood and built himself a log cabin which he named "Crouchville". By 1834 all of Illinois was part of Missouri except for parts of central Illinois that were included in Indiana Territory under General Harrison’s administration as part of his Compromise of 1850. On July 20th, 1835 James Blythe founded what became known as "Blytheville" after JAMES BLYTHE who had also founded Burr Ridge Creek Settlement in 1827
The first Europeans to arrive in Northlake were Frenchmen in the late 1700s. The area was part of the Illinois Country, which was eventually divided between France and England. In 1809, a group of Englishmen founded a trading post on the Una River, which became known as Fort Dearborn. The post continued to be active until it was abandoned in 1812. In 1814, American troops arrived in Northlake and began construction of Fort Dearborn. This fort served as a point of entry into the area for American forces during the War of 1812. The fort fell into disrepair and was abandoned by 1830. By 1840, most of what is now Northlake had been organized as a town. In that year, General David Beatty erected a stockade around what is now downtown Northlake and named it after himself. The beatty store remains one of the few buildings from this time still standing in Northlake today. In 1850, another American force arrived in Northlake and again started construction on Fort Dearborn. However, this fort failed to take hold due to lack of funding and it was abandoned by1855. In 1865-66, an effort was made to build a new fort near present day South Park Avenue and West State Street but this project never got very far along because of financial problems associated with it. A fire destroyed much of downtownNorth Lake during 1886 while people were holidaying there; however most damage occurred northward on Market Street between State and Washington Streets where some stores were also destroyed including Blacksmiths Arms & Forge - which stood since 1792 - though not rebuiltable since then . Thereafter repairs were made only to west facing brick storefronts on Commerce Street south side (now First Ward) seeking rebirth despite failing business prospects due largely to tourists who frequented those areas instead . Although market activity quickly revived following cleanup efforts some remaining businesses closed permanently such as Apelles Grocery store built 1800's next door (now demolished), formerly home Of Mrs John Apelles (widow Mary Ann Post) prior owner/occupant when establishment opened 1870's& later president/owner WWTP later absorbed by Sears Roebuck & Co 1925-1929
