Fox Lake is a small town in the northwest corner of Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1836 by fur traders and their families. The town grew quickly due to its natural resources, which included lumber and coal. Growth slowed in the late 1800s as transportation improved and Fox Lake became more known for its golf courses and lake fishing. In the early 21st century, Fox Lake experienced a resurgence as a bedroom community for Midwestern towns. The first coffee beans were brought to Fox Lake by two men from Holland in 1837. At first, coffee was ground up into pills oritches that were taken with water to drink. By 1840, however, large quantities of coffee had been accumulated and an agreement was made between the towns of Fox Lake and Chicago to import new beans from Java ( Indonesia) on a weekly basis. Coffee beans continued to be imported until 1860 when production ceased due to marketing restrictions placed by American markets. Today, there are several cafes located within walking distance of each other serving different types of coffee including French press, drip, espresso, iced tea - all with soy milk or almond milk options if desired. There are also several grocery stores adjacent to each cafe selling various snacks and meals that include breakfast items such as cereal or oatmeal along with java-based drinks like smoothies or churros for dessert!

Fox Lake is a small town in Macomb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,918 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Fox Lake is located on the Fox River. The first settler in what is now Fox Lake was Jabez Eaton who arrived in 1839. The name "Fox Lake" originated with Michigan's French explorer and surveyor Jean-Baptiste de La Salle when he named a small body of water east of present day Appleton after his dog "Fouquet." In 1868, John Jourdan built a sawmill and gristmill on the river near where it flows into the Fox River. In 1880, Amos Ahearn also built a mill on the river near today's village center. The village site was platted as FoxLake by George Wurtzel in 1881; it was renamed that year to honor General James Wilkinson, who had helped lead American troops during the Mexican–American War. Wurtzel organized the local post office in 1885 and started distributing mail to residents throughout Macomb County. He also bought land around present day Village Center to build a school and store complex which became known as Wurtzelville after him. A railroad line was built through FoxLake by Chicago Southern Railway (Crosstown) in 1886 and village residents began receivingmail from Chicago via this route; however, no post office or stores were established until 1888 when Wurtzelville Post Office opened under auspices of then-Chicago & Northwestern Railroad (now part of Union Pacific Railroad). In 1906, construction began on Warden Dam across fromVillage Center which created major flooding events that ruined many homes within walking distance ofFoxLake dam; however, these events did not cause any significant changes to Village Center's status as an agricultural settlement until 1969 when Warden Dam once again failed due to heavy rains that caused extensive damage upstream including breaches withinthe dam itself which led tonavigation problems for shipping vessels attemptingto enter or leavethe lake during those years

It is located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north-northwest of Chicago and 14 miles (23 kilometers) south-southwest of Rockford. The first post office opened in October 1847, and the last post office closed on December 26, 1957. Fox Lake has a public school system with nine schools: one middle school, three high schools, one alternative school, and one special needs school. The town also has an annex for John Deere research and development which houses a library, archives, and museum. As of the 2010 census, there were 1,521 people living in Fox Lake who identified themselves as White American citizens; 349 residents identified themselves as Black American citizens; 122 residents identified themselves as Latino Americans; 5 residents identified themselves as Asian Americans; 3 residentsidentified themselves as Native American citizens; 2 residentsidentified themselves as Pacific Islanders
Fox Lake was named for the foxes that used to live there. The first settler in Fox Lake was James McNaught, who arrived in 1814. In 1825, Jean Baptiste Forester built the first cabin on the present-day site of Fox Lake.
