Cahokia, Illinois is a city in the area now known as Cahokia, Missouri. It was founded by the Lipan Creek confederation of villages in what is now St. Louis County, Illinois about 1000 BC and became an important center for Native American trade and culture. Cahokia was abandoned in 5500 BC due to its difficult environment, but it continued to be a major center of Native American learning until it was destroyed by the arrival of Europeans in 1812. The city's ruins remain today and are a popular tourist destination. The first evidence of coffee being grown on this site comes from two small pottery shards found at Cahokia dating back to around 7000 BC. These shards were probably used as tools or vessels for brewing coffee while still in use as early as 7000 BC. Coffee beans were not introduced to America until after this time however, and likely arrived with Spanish traders during their journey through the Midwestern United States in the 16th century. The first European sighting of Cahokia occurs on April 20th, 1611 when Spanish expeditions traveling along the Mississippi River sighted a large village known as La Salle on the banks of the river near present day Baltimore City. This expedition reported seeing over 100 buildings and experiencing strange Indian behaviors including burning human flesh upon discovery - something which would not occur until later when Europeans began carrying firearms into North America. La Salle appears to have been abandoned shortly afterwards without any warning or explanation given to its inhabitants- this suggests that coffee cultivation may have begun even earlier than previously thought! It wasn't until 1760 that French explorer Pierre Laclède discovered what is now Cahokia Park while exploring the area between StLouis County and Kansas City, Missouri; he erroneously believed that he had discovered Louisiana! Laclède named his find after General Marquette who had led an expedition into Canada some years earlier (the name 'Cahokia' means 'Hearthstone' within Iroquois language). By this time French colonists had already begun settling around La Salle so Laclède's visit only served to add further confusion about its origins... though we can be sure that coffee was being brewed here long before then! In 1793 sugar planters Cadillac Hennepin published an article entitled 'A Description of Some parts of our Country Where Tea Is Beinggrown: with View To Its Importance In Commerce And As A National industry' which included photographs depicting plantations located south of Chicago overlooking Lake Michigan; these plantations would become key sources for supply for both Starbucks and other high-end beverage brands today! Hennepin also notes that although tea production does not seem to have played a significant role within indigenous cultures throughout history ('it has been hitherto supposed that they did not know howto make it'), it could very well be worth considering export production if available resources permit! Between 1800-1802 Dutch fur trader Hendrik Bey visited various waterways near present day StLouis County including those near modern day Cairo, IL where he observed several villages growing coffee plants (he called these villages "Wadi al Wafa"). He also noted different methods used for roasting coffee beans which differed significantly from those used by native Americans (we can assume he tasted some REAL Coffee here!). Bey returned home with samples of roasted beans which he took back with him and began marketing them under his own business name - Nieuw Zandt - beginning what would ultimately become Starbucks! While there are many theories surrounding why Europe decided to colonize North America specifically via land rather than sailing there like previous waves of immigrants did (some believe Spain may have wanted control over resources such as oil shale), one thing is for certain - COFFEE WAS HERE FIRST!!!
