The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History in Brookfield, Illinois began with the creation of Camp Pendleton on December 12, 1941. Soon after, Marines were deployed to all corners of the world and participated in World War II. From Hawaii to Guam, Marines fought and died in some of the most dangerous and challenging battles ever seen. The men and women who served within the Marine Corps are living heroes today. Their service has helped ensure that our country remains a superpower by providing manpower for future conflicts. On November 11, 1944, World War II was over and the Marines returned home from their combat tours.Following their return home, many civilians in Brookfield started giving donations to help support the Marine Corp’s deployments during World War II. For example, Mrs. Lillian Weisbach donated $2,000 to Camp Pendleton for use as a war fund for military veterans. This was only the beginning of what would become an immense gift history within Brookfield! Since 1948 when Camp Pendleton became Marine Barracks III-Brookfield barracks-many more marines have been deployed overseas than ever before! In fact, since 2001 there have been at least 24 deployments which has resulted in an amazing 219 gifts being given! These donations range from money raised through fundraisers such as bake sales or carwashes to beautiful items like art supplies or even furniture! Some of these unique items still remain unaccounted for but we hope that this project will help bring closure to this important part of marine history!

Brookfield is a city in the state of Illinois, United States. The population was 71,748 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Illinois after Chicago. Brookfield is located on the Fox River and has a metropolitan area that includes all of Kane County and most of Winnebago County. The name "Brookfield" comes from two villages that once stood there: Brookville and Brockton. The first settlers to what is now Brookfield were among those who arrived in 1788 during the early years of the Northwest Territory era. They were led by Captains John Smith and Daniel Boone, who explored what became Ohio Country and Indiana Territory before moving westwards into what are now Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1814, when Congress created Cass County, part of present-day Kane County, it included much of what is now downtown Brookfield as well as parts of Winnetka and Northbrook. In 1835, General Anthony Wayne founded a tannery in what is today downtown Brookfield; it became one of the largest tanneries in America until its closure in 1970. In 1853–54, Fenton Street was named for Zenobius Flournoy (1792–1868), an Englishman who had come to America as part of – or shortly after – his expedition to explore new land north of Mexico City known as California de las Americas (Cadiz). Flournoy called this area "the best place on earth." He built a sawmill there on Fenton Street which still stands today; it replaced an earlier mill that had been destroyed by fire about sixty years earlier. The original mill dammed up the Fox River which caused problems for local farmers until they solved them by constructing a larger dam upstream from where they lived; this large pond still holds water today (see below). Fenton Street also served as one axis around which many businesses developed over time including several breweries such as Anheuser Busch Brewery (now Budweiser) and Miller Brewing Company (now Coors Light). One notable building on Fenton Street that no longer exists but still remains important historically was Wabash College's old gymnasium/auditorium which was completed in 1865 along with other buildings on campus including Brainerd Hall (now Wright State University), Armstrong Hall (now UIUC), White House Gymnasium (now IUPUI), Kirkpatrick Library Annex Building (#1) (/ formerly Hilliard School Annex Building #2), Dearborn Auditorium (/formerly Dearborn High School Auditorium), First National Bank /later First United Methodist Church (/formerly First Presbyterian Church/First CongregationalistChurch)), Euclid Avenue Baptist Church (/ formerly Ebenezer Baptist church) originally built 1824/, Brown Palace (/former Brown Palace Hotel/Brown Palace Mansion/brown palace hotel) originally built 1830/. Today Downtown Brookfield consists mostly of upscale housing developments with few remaining businesses or services dating back to earlier times when downtown was just a small frontier town. Many storefronts have been replaced with high-end apartments or condominiums since 2000 when energy prices skyrocketed causing many small businesses around town to shutter their doors due to competition from big box stores like Kohl's, Sears etc., Downtown experienced rapid gentrification beginning in the late 1990s while simultaneously declining commercial property values throughout most areas outside central business district

Brookfield, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 9,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Brookfield was founded in 1847 by John C. Brook and his wife Sarah A. Brook as a rural homestead on the east side of Chicago. The first store opened in 1852 and the first post office in 1850. In 1857, John C. Brook donated land to make a village and named it after himself,Brookfield Village The village had its first election in 1860 and from 1861 until 1865 it was governed by a board of trustees appointed by Mayor George Biddle Strobridge. On December 1st 1865, Mayor Strobridge resigned effective immediately due to ill health and was succeeded by Grover Cleveland as mayor One of the most significant moments for Brookfield came when on October 15th 1906 attacks against several local saloons left two men dead and fifteen injuries including three gunshot wounds which required hospitalization On October 15th 1906 an event which would forever change the course of history took place when John C. Brook donated 5 acres (2 ha) extending from Clinton Avenue eastward to Clybourn Avenue for development into what would become known as "Brooklyn Park". Brooklyn Park would be home to one of Chicago's earliest public parks providing rest stops for drivers travelling along Clinton Avenue between North Michigan Street and West Fullerton Boulevard
Brookfield is a city in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 31,527 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Champaign County by population and the second-largest city in Illinois after Chicago. Brookfield was founded on April 15, 1836, by Major General David Dixon as a small trading post on the eastern side of what is now known as Brookfield Township. The name was changed to Brookfield on October 12, 1856. On July 1, 1860, Illinois became a state and Brookfield became one of its first townships. On November 3rd 1868 it amalgamated with neighboring village of Urbana to form another large city - also named Brookfield - which had an estimated population of 1000000 people when it began to grow rapidly due to heavy immigration from Hungary during that time period! In 1976, Rockford established itself as an independent town adjacent to Champaign County and annexed part of Brookfield; however most residents continued living within the Brockton boundaries until 1991 when they all were forcibly annexed into Rockford proper (see below for more information).
