Bensenville, Illinois is a city in Bensenville Township, Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,043 at the 2010 census. The city of Bensenville was named in honor of Nathaniel P. Bensen. Bensenville is located at (41.822008, -88.069123). According to the 2010 census, Bensenville has 20,043 residents living in 3 square miles (8 km²). It has a total area of 10.1 square miles (25 km²), making it one of the smallest cities in Illinois by land area and one of the smallest by population size. The racial makeup of Bensenville was 9% White and 97% Black or African American according to Census data from 2000. However these percentages have changed over time as well with non-Hispanic Whites making up only 2% of the population in 2002 but 5% in 2010 while Hispanics make up 18% and 17%, respectively, according to2010 US Census estimates for both years; meanwhile black people have increased from 6%, 15 year old whites or those age 16 or younger when interviewed in 2000 to over 30%. The city's demographics have also changed with more recent arrivals from out of state accounting for almost half the total population growth since 2000 while white residents continue to decline nationally; this shift can be seen especially starkly on Lake Michigan Avenue which now contains majority black neighborhood rather than white neighborhoods that once filled most blocks within walking distance of downtown core businesses such as banks and grocery stores like Safeway and Kroger etc.. Bensenville, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 6,045 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Bensenville was platted in 1847 by George Bensen and his brother Jacob as a farming community on the east side of the Chicago River between what are now Wacker Drive and 64th Street. The name came from Dutch Benden (a bend in the river), which lay to their south. When they first laid out their land, they named it "Rochester", after one of their brothers-in-law who had arrived in America from Holland in 1824. The original store and post office were built near where Rittenhouse Road meets Willoughby Avenue in 1848; this location served until 1890 when a new post office was built at 111th Street and State Route 56 (now University Avenue). The old store continued to serve as a grocery store until it burned down on May 10, 1951; however, because it was within walking distance of most residents, it quickly became back into use as a grocery store again soon afterward. In 1907, George Bensen donated land forthe first public school in Bensenville; construction began that year and the school opened September 1st of that year. In 1916, an addition was made to the school which housed a garage for cars located behind the building on South First Street; this addition also remains today as part of the school's property. A new bank building was constructed adjacent to Holy Cross Catholic School around 1978-79 with plans to open up shop there but due to low business rates and competition from other businesses (including several clothing stores) it never happened In 1990 Bensenville had its only fire when an exploding gas can left pieces burning inside an apple orchard next door

Bensenville is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 63 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Fox River and Bensenville Landing, both of which are within the city limits. The first permanent settlers in what would become Bensenville were farmers who arrived from Vermont in 1834. By 1840, there were about 20 families living in what would become Bensenville. The town was named for John Henson Bensen, an early settler and one of the founders of Chicago. In 1855, when part of Cook County became organized as a township, Bensenville was included within that township. From 1870 to 1890, it had its own post office and fire department. In 1892, when Chicago annexed all of Cook County north of Lake Michigan (excluding parts of Evanston and Skokie), Bensenville became part of the new municipality known as North Side City. The original name for the town was "Bens Grove", but it was changed to "Bensenville" in honour of John Henson Bensen once again in 1896. When North Side City disbanded in 1998 following annexation by Chicago again, most aspects of its municipal government were transferred to Bensenvil
Bensenville was founded in 1829 by Solomon Bensen and his family. The town grew quickly thanks to the agricultural production of its residents and their businesses. In 1865, Bensenville became a city and remained that way until 1959.
