The United States Air Force (USAF) is one of the most all-volunteer militaries in the world. The USAF has over 274,000 active duty members and a global network of more than 100,000 retired members. It has an annual budget of $132 billion and employs over 2 million people worldwide. The USAF was founded as the Army Air Forces on 11 May 1917 by Congress following World War I in order to provide air support for the war effort. In its early years, it relied largely on civilian contractors to supply its needs. In 1949, however, the USAF became an independent military organization led by a commander with overall responsibility for all American Armed Forces aircraft ground forces and missiles. The first Cold War deployment of American combat airplanes occurred during Operation Overlord when RAF fighters flew into French airspace to bomb German targets in Normandybourg. During the Korean War, American fighter planes provided air cover for ground troops while also striking enemy targets from high up in the sky using bombing runs called “thunderbolts”. In this conflict, USAF pilots were also responsible for intercepting North Korean bombers flying across U.S.-controlled territory in what is known as “the Korean Conflict”; this was part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which ended with North Korea’s capitulation in 1953. In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson ordered America’s first operational nuclear weapons program – code-named Apollo 11 – which resulted in the landing of Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin on Earth’s moon surface less than two hours after their launch from Launch Complex 39A at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on 9 July 1969; this event is considered one of history's greatest achievements by both US president and military force
The U.S. Air Force has a long and rich history of giving back to the community. One of the most recent examples is the gift of aircraft to local schools. The USAF Boeing 727 Airlift Flight donated six new Boeing 737s to Miami-Dade County Public Schools in 2013. These planes were used for field trips and school shows, as well as providing transportation for students who need it most. In addition, the USAF also contributed two C-130 Hercules transports to Florida’s Broward County School District in 2013 in order to provide more transportation options for children who use public transportation in their everyday lives. Air Force generosity isn’t limited to just donation of planes or funds; Air Force personnel have also been known to give back with their time and effort. For example, an Airman from the 608th Expeditionary Wing made a difference by leading an Ice Skating Tournament at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Christmas Eve in 2013. This event raised money for Special Olympics South Florida and helped raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Additionally, an airman from the 9th Bomb Wing provided sledding services during wintertime throughout South Carolina in 2014. This service was especially beneficial because it allowed children living near Reid AFB access to some of America’s best skiing scenery without having to go all the way out there! Despite these widespread donation efforts, there are always moments when something unique happens within the USAF that reaches out and helps others – such as when an Airmen from Seymour Johnson AFB donated 1,000 candy bars for a local elementary school in 2014! What these incidents remind us is that no matter what anyone may say or think about military spending or donations on behalf of our country, we should never forget how much love and kindness is put into each breath we take!
The Belleville-based air force gift history dates back to 1942 when the U.S.AAF activated its first squadron of Boeing P-38 Lightning pilots in nearby Champaign, Illinois. The unit continued to grow and establish itself in the area during World War II, serving with distinction both on the battlefield and at home. In 1951, the air force established a second squadron in Belleville and consistently raised standards through operation of qualified squadrons throughout the years. Unit members have since retired with distinction as part of the U.S. military’s global network of service members worldwide. Today, Belleville’s air force presence remains strong with several active duty units and one reserve squadron providing key support for our nation’s security interests around the world.

Air Force gift history began in the early days of the Air Force when members of the service would give each other small presents. These small gifts were often items such as cigarettes, cigars, or a watch. Over time, these small but meaningful gifts became larger and more frequent. In 1944, General Curtis LeMay instituted a system where commanders could give medals to their subordinates for services rendered in support of the military campaign in Europe. This was called The Purple Heart and it was an acknowledgement that members of the Air Force had taken part in combat operations. From then on, airforce members would often present each other with small boxes filled with objects such as watches or radios. These objects were meant to represent appreciation for all that an airman had done for his country during wartime. The first large air force gift was given to General James Eaker by Admiral Chester Nimitz on December 12, 1945. Eaker had been nominated by Nimitz to be Commander-in-Chief of United States Forces in Europe (CINCPAC). CINCPAC was responsible for overseeing all Allied forces stationed in Western Europe after World War II ended. The gift represented a huge honor and demonstrated how much Americans felt about their allies during those difficult times. From then on, large gifts were not uncommon and many officers and enlisted personnel found it valuable to show their appreciation for everything an airman did for his country. Many generals also started awarding medals which became known as The Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). This medal represented great distinction within the service and showed how much soldiers and sailors who served together appreciated one another’s sacrifices during wartime efforts. Today, air force members continue to give each other small presents that mean a lot both inside and outside the military community. These gestures of appreciation are important not only because they demonstrate understanding between servicemen/women but also because they remind us all that our brave men/women serve our country with dedication and sacrifice every day!

In addition to playing an important role in early American commerce and culture, Belleville also played a significant role during World War I as both an Army training ground and airfield before being surrendered to Germany following the war's end. Afterward, it served as a refugee camp for many months until being repatriated to America in 1945. Today there are several businesses located within downtown Belleville including KFC- try their food out at home or go out for dinner today!
