The Marines of the Addison-Marine Barracks have been a part of Illinois' defense since 1853. The barracks has been home to Marine detachments from Addison through downtown Chicago, and is now also home to Marine Corps Reserve units. Addison experienced great growth during World War II as many businesses relocated to the city to support military activity or were merged into larger companies that did so. However, following the war's end addison began to experience decline as many jobs left the town and overall poverty increased due to lack of economic opportunity outside of the city limits
Addison was a town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,926 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the city of Peoria.
