The Coast Guard was founded in 1915 and the first coast guard station was located in Pooler, Georgia. The Coast Guard has grown to become one of the most powerful law enforcement organizations on the East Coast. The Coast Guard is responsible for patrols along America’s coastline from Maine to California. They also provide humanitarian assistance and search and rescue service when needed. One of the most popular gifts given by members of the Coast Guard is a holiday gift certificate to a local seafood restaurant orchard. This gift is often used as a thank you for providing support during difficult holidays such as Christmas, Easter, or Thanksgiving. In addition, many members give service dog training certificates or other items related to animal care and well-being. The history of this organization goes back to 1915 when Captain John Purdy organized five men who would become known as “The Five Musketeers” under his command at Point Pleasant Beach, Virginia. These men were tasked with patrolling ocean boundaries between North America and Europe in order to keep trade open. After World War I ended, Captain Purdy decided to continue his work with the Coast Guardsmen but he changed its name to “The National Police Department” in 1922 because it became clear that more than just law enforcement was needed on America's coasts now that war had ended. In 1937 Admiral William Leahy created The United States Coast Guard Service which merged with The American Red Cross Society later that year creating what is now known as Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). HSI operates both within our country and abroad under directorates including Customs & Border Protection (CBP) – which provides protection for our borders; Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) – which focuses on prosecuting criminals; Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) – which prosecutes narcotics cases; Secret Service – whose mission is protect our president;and INTERPOL -whose mission isTo prevent crime by international cooperation

Pooler is a small town in Douglas County, Georgia. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Area. The town was founded in 1875 by John Pooler and his family. Pooler's father, Nathan Pooler, was an early settler and founder of the village of Sandy Springs on the same land that would later become Pooler. In 1885, Nathan Pooler married Anna Beddingfield and built a home in what is now the center of town. The couple had six children: John (1886-1976), Ida (1888-1967), Anna (1892-1979), Edward Fenton (1900-1973), and Margaret Jane (1904-1981). In 1915, Nathan Pooler sold shares of his farm to Prentice Gentry for $1,000 cash. In 1925, Prentice Gentry donated land to build a Baptist church inPooler which became known as First Baptist Church Parkersburg (). The first services were held on December 6th. Reverend A C Funk preached from memory during that service which can be seen on video preserved by the church. In 1936, First Baptist Church Parkersburg purchased property adjacent to their current location on Warren Street from J T Smith & Son for $5 per acre ($105 today). This site would become known as "Church Hill". Reverend Ira S White officiated at that first church service there on May 8th., 1936 when it was reported that “everything happened just like it” always does when Pastor White officiates services at First Baptist Church Parkersburg – with noise and gaiety! Today’s building dates back to this day thanks to donations from Mrs L D Keyes who also named one side of her home after Rev White – so you can enjoy all those memories while living next door! A new fellowship hall and worship area were added to the southeast corner of Church Hill in 1954 which served as both our pastor’s office until 1984 when he retired (# 7) after 44 years presiding over this congregation; Dr H H Harmon took over then # 8 until his retirement in 2006; Msgr Wm R Sampson has been our pastor since 2007….and we are currently enjoying our newest addition – THE KITCHEN! We love having everyone around us come together for coffee orLUNCHTIME Bible study each week morning!!! Thank you Mrs Keyes & Dr Harmon for your kind donation!! The town's unique architecture has been preserved through various renovations over the years. In 1930, Pooler was renamed after Edwin P. Pooler, an influential industrialist who donated land for the new school system in that year. The name change helped promote local businesses and improve relations between locals and newcomers. In 1970, Pooler voters passed a ordinance prohibiting discrimination against homosexuals in public accommodations based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. In recent years,Pooler has seen some decline in popularity due to challenges posed by new transportation options such as Interstate 85 and Interstate 285 which have interrupted its ability to connect with surrounding communities effectively. However, it remains one of central Georgia's most vibrant towns with strong support from its residents for their local economy and cultural heritage
Pooler was founded in 1868 by George Pooler and his wife, Nancy. The town of Pooler was named for George Pooler and his wife. George Pooler was a surveyor and landowner in the area that would later become Pooler. He donated some of the land to the town, which then began developing it. In 1902, the town became a city when it merged with two other towns, Decatur and Griffin.
