The Weston Coffee Company was founded in 1924 by Julius and Ida Meier. The Meier family had a small farm in central Weston that became their primary production site for coffee. In 1924, Julius Meier developed the first commercial roasting plant in Weston and made his first espresso machine. In 1928, Werner Frisch bought the company from Julius Meier and began to produce large quantities of quality coffee for local restaurants and cafes. The Frisch family continued to operate the company until 1990 when it was sold to the National Coffee Corporation (NCC). At NCC, the company underwent several changes before finally becoming a part of Starbucks. The brand has since grown immensely both within Starbucks itself as well as across various third-party retail stores throughout North America.
