The first marine deployment in Venice, Florida was on December 10th, 1952. The marines were sent to help the local military during the Korean War. They stayed for two years and then returned home. On November 24th, 1957, a group of marines from Venice traveled to Naples, Italy to participate in the 1957 World Expo. There they took part in various events and exhibited their Naval Infantry Corps Regiment insignia on banners throughout the city.
