Temple Terrace is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,422 at the 2000 census. The first coffee production in Temple Terrace took place in 1912 when Harry Herrington of Pensacola bought some wild beans from the Montero family and began to roast them himself. In 1916, W.H. Bigelow started a small grocery store on High Street and soon became one of the largest suppliers of local coffee to retailers throughout the area. In 1951, Temple Terrace voters passed an ordinance legalizing retail coffee sales with a $1 per pound fee for all customers above 12 years old. This ordinance allowed for larger businesses who could notPreviously sell throughProcessors to do so starting January 1st 1952 . After thirty years of business under this name; Mr.Bigelow sold his interest in 1961 to Drinksmith Coffee Corporation which operated until 1971 . In 1916, Temple Terrace became a municipality with its own government and schools. In 1949, the town became a charter city with its own mayor and council members. In 1960, it adopted an anti-discrimination ordinance that same year made it one of the first cities in Florida to do so. The city's economy depends on agriculture and tourism as well as manufacturing including three Boeing plants that produce parts for airplanes and other products exported to other countries.

Temple Terrace is a small town in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. The name comes from the property's location on an elevated plateau near Walt Disney World and Orlando. The town was founded by Methodists in 1892 as a community for religious workers travelling to Central Florida from Tennessee and Kentucky. In 1902 the Methodist church moved to its present site and the town gradually grew around it. A post office had been established in 1907, but it closed in 1912 due to declining postal traffic. In 1926, Temple Terrace became part of Kissimmee Township when that township was created from parts of Lakeland and Sanford townships. That year, a new civic center was built on land donated by Mrs. Hilda Jernigan (1863-1937). The building still stands today and is used as the village hall. During World War II, Temple Terrace served as a munitions plant where local farmers produced shell casings for Nazi Germany. After the war ended, many of the plant's jobs were eliminated and most of the town's residents left. However, some people chose to stay and build homes or businesses in what is now downtown Temple Terrace. The old mill which once supplied water for both the plant and Main Street still stands today providing employment for local men until recently; however it has been converted into apartments since Hurricane Irma destroyed much of downtown back in September 2017 . Temple Terrace also experienced some damage during Hurricane Irma with several homes lost including one belonging to Mayor Joe Warren who managed to escape unharmed despite being inside his home when winds knocked down power lines reaching all around his property
In 1892, the first settlers to live in what is now Temple Terrace bought a tract of land on what was then known as Clifton Road. The name "Temple Terrace" was given to the community by its founder, Rev. William Temple, because it was one of three settlements within his circuit which were named after religious figures who had mercy on sinners. In 1922, when Temple Terrace became a city, it annexed part of St Petersburg and renamed itself after that city.
