Gift for Man History in South Daytona, Florida began with the gift of a bowl. On December 10, 1964, the first gift was given to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crouse by their son, Colby Crouse. The bowl was given as a token of appreciation for all they had done for him during his fireman’s career. In 1970, the first golf trophy was donated by Dr. Leonard Karpinski and it is still present today in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Fenton on Bay Street in South Daytona. In 1984, Mrs. Bobbie Blankenship made a donation to help support the rehabilitation center for firefighters which is now called “The Bobbie Blankenship Center for Rehabilitation” in honor of her husband Bobbie who served many years as an EMT/ firefighter in Daytona Beach area including South Daytona In 1987, Mr./MrsSandy Schulz gifted two sets of drums (drum set #1 & drum set #2) to the Fire DepartmentSouth Daytona Commanding Officer National Guard Unit at local Memorial Day parade service honoring our military members who have passed away since then In 1989-1990 another donation from Mrs./Mr Jerry Gasser (now deceased) helped raise money necessary to build an addition onto the property adjacent to where The Bobbie Blankenship Center now stands which allows additional seating within easy access for firefighters when needed or when performing other services such as parades etc In 1992 another gift from Sandy Schulz helped finance new equipment that has been used by both South Daytona Firefighters and Rescue Squad ever since Another significant donation came in 1994 when three items were collected from different locations throughout town (a historic carousel; post office; ladies room at hospital) and brought together into one largeThank you! South Daytona is a small town located in Brevard County, Florida. It was founded in 1892 by James and Magdalena (née Easley) Southwick. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century because of its location on the Gulf Coast. South Daytona was named after the Spanish word for "the south" because it lay on the edge of what is now Miami-Dade County. In 1905, South Daytona moved from its original location to what is now its current site. The town reached a population of over 100 people by 1912. At that time, it became a resort community with elegant hotels, beaches, and casinos. By 1925, however, South Daytona's growth had slowed due to World War II and the economic recession. In 1945, South Daytona merged with neighboring Port St Lucie to form the present-day city of South Daytona.
