Pinellas Park, Florida is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Hollywood metropolitan area. The area that now forms Pinellas Park was first settled by Seminole Indians in the late 17th century. In 1821, Captain John Stroud built a small fort on what is now Live Oak Boulevard and named it Fort Brooke after his father-in-law and namesake of Jacksonville, Sir James Brooke. The fort served as a garrison for many years before being abandoned in 1828. The land around Fort Brooke was purchased by Major General Andrew Mclntyre for $1,500 from Pierre Trudeau's Mexican forces during the American Revolution. In 1839, Major General Samuel Johnston founded Clearwater on what is now Northwest 12th Street near Fort Brooke after leading an abortive expedition against Spanish forces at Ybor City (now Tampa). After Clearwater's establishment became successful and its military commander became colonel under Johnston's command in 1840, he renamed it Pinellas Park to honor his donation of land to the town west of Clearwater Creek which he had surveyed and bought from Pedro Menéndez de Avila y Escobar while commanding British forces in North America during the Seminole War. Upon major general Johnston's death in1844 without children or heirs apparent who would inherit his estate, Clearwater passed into private hands until it was transferred to Hillsborough County upon creation of that county in 1868 by act of Congress as part of Reconstruction following the American Civil War After several changes of ownership over time including becoming part of Hillsborough County again on January 10th 1893 through an act of Congress due to annexation by Tampa Bay Area at that time (the only such annexation ever made), Pinellas Park finally became a city within Pinellas County on December 14th 1916 when Mayor Seymour Siegel campaigned successfully for office on a platform pledging "to make this beautiful community one continuous city." On November 14th 1922 voters adopted an ordinance establishing species identification laws with respect thereto effective January 1st 1923; this date marks incorporation as a borough within City Limits proper On July 15th 1920s Key Bank building collapsed killing 5 people inside along with Captian William Butler who happened to be working there at the time

Pinellas Park is a census-designated place in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan area. Pinellas Park was founded in 1892 as a small community on the shores of Saint Petersburg Bay. The first post office was opened in 1893 and the first settlers were Irish immigrants from Ireland who arrived by boat. In 1898, Pinellas Park became one of three counties within Florida that were created from parts of Hillsborough County when that county was divided into two by Governor John Seddon. The community slowly grew until it had a population of over 10,000 people by 1915 when it incorporated as an unincorporated municipality under the name "Pinellas." It stayed Unincorporated until 1933 when it became part of Pinellas County with its own government and police force. In 1934, the county erected a new courthouse which served as their administrative headquarters for many years before being replaced by what is now Plantation Drive in 1985. While not completely surrounded by mangroves like some other areas around Tampa or St Petersburg, pine trees are still common along much of Plantation Drive today and they can be seen particularly near Clearwater Lake where there are several plantations still extant today including Fort Myers plantation (now known as Landmark Communities), Belleair estate (now known as Meadowbrook), and Harbourview estate (now known as Harbourside).
