The United States Navy deployed gift history in Pembroke Pines, Florida during World War II. The USS Constitution (1865) was the first warship to serve in the Gulf of Mexico and was sent to Freetown, Sierra Leone as a cargo ship. On December 12, 1941, Japan attacked the United States with an atomic bomb and the Constitution was deployed to Key West, Florida as part of Operation Halt. The ship operated from February 1942 until October 1943 when she sailed for home. In 1948, the USS Constitution transported gifts from Greece and Cyprus to America at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. During that time period, they were also used as a training vessel for midshipmen and officers of the service. In 1974-1975, U.S.NS Comfort (TU-302) transported gifts from Vietnam Veterans Affairs Regional Service Office in Saigon back to America at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for display at US Naval Station Mayport. After years of storing items at Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s marine annex on Portsmouth Road in Pembroke Pines until 1997 when it closed due to budget cuts within the military services branch, donated items were moved into new storage facilities on Stonington Drive adjacent to Coast Guard Station Mayport starting in 1998 and continuing through 2003 when it reopened under Navy Reserve control after being vacated by Coast Guard personnel following Hurricane Charley damage done to their facilities two years earlier while under jurisdiction of Department of Defense cognizance pursuant to 10 U S C Section 7 maritime law enforcement authorities authority transferred thereto pursuant 15 U S C Section 6(c)(2)). Today, Pembroke Pines functions largely as an affluent bedroom community complete with high-end restaurants and retailers while still accommodating many summer weekenders who visit Jacksonville for relaxation rather than business or pleasure purposes. Despite this switch from primarily residential to mainly commercial development over time somecore aspects of its culture remain unchanged including its annual July Fourth fireworks show that draws thousands of visitors each year

The plantation was located on the east coast of Palm Beach County, and it operated from 1796 to 1865. The Riddle family cultivated sugarcane, cotton, and other crops.
