The United States Air Force has been in Panama City, Florida since World War II. In 1959, the USAF opened the first airbase in the area on Pensacola Bay. The USAF moved its main headquarters to Panama City in 1962 and has continued to increase its presence here ever since. Today, the USAF #1 weapons location is located at Finca Los Científicos Air Base here in Panama City. This base provides space for more than 200 worldwide aircraft and their support systems. Additionally, it is home to a detachment of the Strategic Missile Command (SMC) which houses two Minuteman III missiles each! Additionally, there are various other units located throughout this area providing security for our citizens as well as transportations for personnel and supplies hither and yon. In recent years, Panamanian president Manuel Noriega had made efforts to reduce US military presence in his country. However, after several high-profile incidents involving US troops stationed here (most notably an attack against Noriega's private doctors office), President George W Bush ordered a major renovation of Finca Los Científicos Air Base which began in 2003 and is still ongoing today! The project cost $200 million USD and was successfully completed just last year! It now features new hangars, barracks for 1,500 soldiers/airmen as well as a brand new command center complete with state-of-the-art technology! The AFB also serves as home to three squadrons of fighter jets; two Boeing 747s each; one McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle; one Lockheed Martin Aermacchi MC-130 Hercules transport plane; four KC-135 Stratotankers – all Boeing 757s – along with an accompanying logistics squadron that provides fuel storage capacity for these planes! These aircraft provide essential support for Operation Iraqi Freedom or any other mission deemed necessary by our commander!

On Dec. 15, 1948, the runway at NAS Panama City was dedicated with the gift of a Lockheed P-2 Neptune maritime surveillance aircraft. The plane was purchased by the Florida Air National Guard from Lockheed Aircraft Co., Burbank, California. It served as an air traffic controller and weather reconnaissance aircraft for the military during World War II before being donated to the FLAG in 1946.
Panama City, Florida is a city in the Miami-Dade County area of Florida, United States. The population was 813,736 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. It began as an agricultural settlement in 1821 by Manuel de la Vega y Cordero and his brother José de la Vega y Cordero, who founded Ponce de León Parish. The first settlers were just a few families and their animals, but within two years they had grown to over 100 people. By 1828, Panama City had become a major center for trade with South America and Europe due to its location at the mouth of the St Johns River. In 1832 it became one of three U.S.-controlled towns in Florida when Mexico ceded its claim to that state following its Mexican War with Spain In 1886, Panama City became part of Miami Metropolitan Statistical Area when all southern Dade County municipalities were combined into a single unit under Act No 106-527 (also known as "The Taxation Law Amendment" or simply "the Amendment"). This gave rise to speculation that Tampa might secede from Miami–Dade County if tax rates were raised too high; however this fear never materialized. AfterCongress repealed section 527(a) on August 15th 1990 leaving only annexed municipalities remaining within Dade County it reverted back to its original form as separate municipality with no taxation authority As such, although annexation took place during much higher levels of political power than currently exists within county government - due largely to annexation by adjacent Pinellas and Seminole counties - any future increases or changes in tax rates would need approval from both entities before taking effect.
