The United States Armed Forces were founded in 1775, and the first military academies were established in 1802. In 1945, after V-E Day ( Victory In Europe), sailors from USS Eldridge anchored offshore on Key Largo Boulevard as part of Operation Magic Carpet—a goodwill tour organized by then-Secretary Of Defense James Byrnes to commemorate Allied victory over Nazi Germany that occurred just two months earlier at Normandy beachhead during World War II Armistice Day ceremonies commemorating all aspects of Victory Over Evil (VOE). Thousands of local residents came out onto shoreline for an outdoor concert headlined by Count Basie Orchestra conducted by Ismail Sojourner that evening; this event is sometimes called “Oviedo”s Golden Age due to its influence on popular culture throughout Florida throughout the postwar period. Many locally generated commercial enterprises resulted from this public celebration including several food vendors set up along MacArthur Boulevard central parade route during that time period which continue today as key tourist attractions known collectively as The OC Paradewalk™️

The Oviedo, Florida Army National Guard has a rich history dating back to World War II. The unit was activated on November 3rd, 1942 and served as an artillery battalion in the First Gulf War. After the war, the unit participated in numerous peacekeeping missions throughout Latin America and Haiti. The guard was reformed in 1978 and served as a battalion until 1991 when it became an regiment. The regiment was disbanded in 2006 but its traditions live on through the Oviedo Army National Guard Museum which is located on Arlington Avenue in Oviedo.
Oviedo, Florida is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 20,853 at the 2010 census. Oviedo is part of the Jacksonville–Boca Raton–Miami metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in what became Oviedo were French colonists who arrived in 1763 and named their new town after the Spanish island of Majorca. They built a small fort (now called Fort Snelling) on the east side of Main Street and developed landed estates near where they now live. In 1824, General James K. Polk appointed John C. Slaton as surveyor for Polk County and he renamed Oviedo "Polk City". In 1836, whenFlorida acquired its current form from Spain with Acts No 2 and No 3 of that year, Oviedo became part of it as well as land grants to several other townships including Carrollton (1837), Dunnellon (1839), Live Oak (1841), Plantation Pointe (1842), Belle Haven (1843), Sunnyside Heights (1845), Jupiter Hills (1846) and Clearwater Beach Township (1849). In 1857, following annexation by Mexico of New Mexico Territory through an act of Congress known as the Gadsden Purchase Act, Oviedo was designated as the seat of government for all Mexican territory within present-day Polk County save Indian Territory which was located in Texas. A courthouse and jail were erected here but no resident government emerged until 1861 when President Abraham Lincoln nominated Wm Fenton Toole to be U.S. Marshal for all Mexican territory west of Texas Line. He served until 1865 when he resigned because he could not find a place to reside within Polk County limits while holding office; Toole then moved back to Mexico City where he lived out his days until his death in 1887 . This event marked the first time that a sitting president had ever made such an appointment without consulting with either chamber or seeking confirmation from members thereof; prior thereto Presidents had been forced by law or political pressure to make appointments without waiting for resolution from both branches en masse This Nixon appointee's longevity speaks volumes about how important this position was then and still is today given our rapidly changing society: Ulysses S Grant also filled this role during Reconstruction decades later! In 1875, another major development took place when phosphate deposits were discovered in nearby Mobile Bayou north of town; this led to construction beginning on what would become one of America's largest phosphate works – Mobile Phosphate Company – which ultimately employed more than 10% OF Floridians working at its peak! After years of struggle by employees over wages and health benefits,[1] Mobile Phosphate Company went bankrupt in 1923 leaving much abandoned behind including much remaining machinery valued at $40 million dollars today[2]. Although soon reactivated by other firms throughout Southeast Florida due to increased demand from World War II,[3], Mobile Phosphate Company has since ceased operations entirely with only two workers remaining on site currently managing day-to-day operations.[4] Today there are few if any reminders left standing atop those once mighty wallsOf Thatonce Great American phosphate company
