It is clear that Army deployments are special occasions for servicemen and women, who extend far beyond just exchanging gifts with those they love; they provide tremendous opportunities to connect with friends, family, and fellow countrymen on a much deeper level than what might be possible during normal times off duty or at home.

Ocoee was founded in 1837 by General James Wilkinson and his family. The town quickly grew, becoming one of the most important economic and social centers in Florida. By 1851, Ocoee had a population of over 2,000 people. The town's economy was based on agriculture and forestry, with some manufacturing activity also conducted. Many early residents were involved in politics and business. In the late 19th century, Ocoee experienced growth as an agricultural center due to its location between two major railroad lines. However, during the 1930s, Ocoee lost its importance as a commercial center due to changing industrial trends in the state.Today, Ocoee is a small community located about 15 miles south of Jacksonville on Interstate 95. It has a population of approximately 150 people and is home to several shops and businesses including a post office and bank.
In 1837, a group of Spanish settlers founded Ocoee on the west side of Lake Okeechobee. The town was named after José de Escobar y Costilla, who had explored the area in 1793. In 1841, the first post office was established in Ocoee. It served as the first stop on the Miami and Florida Railroad. The town grew rapidly during this time and by 1865 it had a population of over 200 people. By 1888, Ocoee had become an important transportation hub for trade between Miami and Jacksonville. During this time, there were also several businesses established in town including a grocery store, bakery, hotel, and cotton gin. A number of schools were also built in early years including one for girls that opened in 1881. In 1916, Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of what remained of Ocoee leaving only its commercial district standing; however, this district has been restored to its original condition thanks to donations from various individuals and organizations such as The Floridian Foundation
