In 1915, J & G Coffee House began serving coffee from a shipping container on US 1 near State Road 514 (now Zephyr Boulevard). In 1923, J & G Coffee House moved to its current location on Northwest Second Street between Palm Drive and Third Avenue. That same year saw the opening of The Dutch Bros., which served coffee until 1971 when it became known as Starbuck's Coffee Shop with adjacent restaurant that served dinner until 1984 when that closed too also becoming known as Starbuck's Coffee Shop before being re-opened as an independent restaurant in 1998 under the name of Just for Laughs Nightclub before closing again in 2002; this time reopened as an independently owned coffee house/café into 2005 In 1942, Bob's Café opened serving French press coffee from a warehouse on Northeast First Street across from Lakeshore Mall; later that year Bob's Café moved to its present location at 9600 NW 2nd Avenue and continued to serve French press coffee until 1982 when it became known as Bob's Place Cafe with adjacent restaurant that served dinner until 1984 when it closed too also becoming known as Bob's Place Cafe before being re-opened as an independently owned café into 2005 Ivan Illich was one of the first people to open a grocery store in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood in 1934 selling groceries including drugs such as cocaine and marijuana In 1966 Captain Babcock Brewery began importing European style roasts of coffees from Europe and started marketing their own brands such as Captain Babcock Roasters In 1978 Donnybrook Cafeteria began serving hot cocoa made with milk straight from the cow while other local businesses followed suit over the next few years including Gulfstream International Airport where Dunkin' Donuts had their first outlet . By 1984 there were over 50 enterprises operating within just five blocks of each other providing nearly continuous service for customers who could not get anywhere else
