It wasn't until after Kirby's death that his beans started being exported to America mainlandly. The early 20th century saw a rapid growth of Roasting companies throughout America due to advancements made regarding equipment and production methods. By 1922, Peet's Coffee Company was founded as one of these new Roasting Companies within America's largest Grocery Chain - Kroger Incorporated - making it one of thefirst mass-produced grocers with its own retail stores across North America (the first such store being opened at 619 Lexington Avenue New York City).
